Hearing Issues with CMT

Well, I just heard (ha ha ha) that hearing loss may be another issue that developes with Charcot Marie Tooth. My family doctor mentioned it in passing at my last appointment; but, she admittedly doesn't know much about CMT (I am her only patient that has it, and my neurologist never mentioned the possibility of hearing loss).

Tinnitus is a new (one year) and aggravating issue I am experiencing. Results of a hearing test shows a deficit in my left ear and I'm off to see an ear, nose and throat specialist.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Yes, you can have hearing loss with certain types of CMT. It is true. I believe in certain types of CMT it is more common. However, I think it can happen in any type of CMT.
