Cymbalta

Recently, I got off Effexor and titrated up to a therapeutic dose of Cymbalta, Lilly's "new and improved" Prozac. I find it much better, not so much in a "haze", it really does help with pain, and the sexual side effects are much reduced. If it weren't for my "other diseases", I think that I could actually be "happy" now. In fact, I am getting spots in the day where I am not so perturbed as I was on Effexor and actually do feel much better.
I urge those who feel that Effexor is not the optimum drug for their depression to give it a try.:)

very goodnews - my dear cs

dear cs,
my psychiatrist offered me cymbalta, does it help the pain?
she told me it may help with pain and depression?
what do you think?
I am still taking zoloft...
CS - do you think there is much difference between generic
and brand name?
my sister who lives in France told me, she has a degenerative spinal cord.
God is good, God is good all the time, he never changes... :)

my other sister has Multiple Sclerosis -she told me, while I was growing (because she is my big sister too) Thank God for everything that we have fingers and legs and toes, be thankful that we can see, and we can hear, because not everyone has what we take for granted.

Thank you Tena-

For just paying attention to this, sista. This stuff is great. I am off of Effexor and finally feel much better than usual.Nothing but good "Side effects". AS stated in the manufacturers claims, it does help for pain. I am on Oxycontin and have chronic pain. I just found out that I am going for the pain prescription bottle less, and that is a very good thing.
My mood has picked up a lot. Today the basement got flooded out and when my wife got me out of bed to look at it , I didn't curse , i just said "well what tools do we have to deal with this, gotta go, the waters poouring in and i don't know how long the shop wet vacuum will work.
TO your second question, te answer is " there's not SUPPOSED to be". I've made drugs all my professional life and have seen how how "the drug machine" works. My deeper experiences can only tell you that if a "Batch synthesis" of any drug, which is pure to at least 99.9%, and the trace impurities have been identified and characterized, and found to be non-toxic molecules, well that's clean stuff and anything that clean, formulated and produced as capsules or tablets, is a GREAT generic, sometimes better than can be produced by the brand name manufacturer. BOTH pruducers can get "sloppy", say if a cheaper synthetic route is found, but the material contains an impurity (say trace platinum), then the generic, or the brand name, indeed has a problem if they slip the batch into production.
IT's a long story, maybe i can do it a little more clear someday, but it's a great question. BYE HUN :p . cs

Good news cs, I'm glad you are emerging from the pit. I've been taking Prozac for a number of years, how is Cymbalta improved? I also have chronic pain, but don't suffer from depression. I''ve never had problems from Prozac, but wonder about cymbalta for pain.

Yes, this is good news..:) ..It takes time to put a finger on the source and the solution to this stuff..But Im happy to hear that you found something that works..Its all good!..;)

Paula , you said that "you never had any problems with depression, yet you say Prozac didn't bother you" THat means that you have tried it in the past for depression. I don't think Cymbalta is a replacement for pain meds, just perhaps a "booster". Cymbalta is much like Prozac structurally, with a few replacement of molecular groups, but basically shares a lot of similarity to the core structure of prozac.
STeve. This stuff works for me, I'm not pushing it. IN fact , I was very sceptical of it being all they say it is, but for now , i'm buying it. cs

Sex eh guess you are going to change your name now

How about OLe Cs

Thelma 03-02-2007 02:28 PM

wasn't that dumb????????????????????????????????????

paula_w 03-02-2007 02:33 PM

Sorry I should have said no problems with depression while on Prozac. Wondered of the extra pain relief along with the anti-depressant would be worth checking into.

Thelma whatever would make you say something like that? I'm sure it has nothing to do with cs' mood lift. [cough]

It's true...

Effexor left me like a branded steer.
There are little to no sexual side effects to Cymbalta. YEE HAW:D  :) :winky:  :)
