Actress with MG

The character of Maggy (Suzanne Rogers) on Days of Our Lives has had MG for decades. Back in the day, they were pretty much forced to write the disorder in the script, because Suzanne's appearance had the droopy eye thing going.

Flash forward three decades and the character still faces the disorder. The funny thing or perhaps it is probable, the character is currently in remission but she had a flare up of MG.

Now, on the show, they don't talk much about MG, they just say the name. I still find it fascinating that they thought to "highlight" a rarely known disorder.

I started watching Days when I was about five years old. lol Since MG was brought up as a possible dx for me I watched Suzanne's story lines with even more interest. I'm glad they mention it, but it would be nice if they could go into more detail about the illness. Perhaps she wants it that way. By the way, there is a pic of her on the MDA website.

I take it you watch Days too?

I read about her as well on the MDA web site.

Anne-Margaret's husband Roger Smith has had MG for a very long time. I remember as a child reading in a magazine about his struggle with MG, at the time he had occular MG. I don't know anything else about his MG progression. Up until my own problems began, I like many people didn't even know there was a generalized form!

I guess they figure the MG story line would only be of interest to a small number of viewers. It's not as "big" a disease as cancer, or brain tumors (two soap opera fav's)

MG could really use a "big name" as a spokesperson, Even the MDA doesn't give MG all that much time when they hold the telethon and do other fundraising events, yet they treat a great number of MG patients!

I believe they did go into detail many years ago, when she was first diagnosed. Back then, she said her face (eyes) looked totally different, and it was addressed in a storyline.

Yep, I've been watching Days, since I was about five years old as well, but I do really recall Maggy's back in the day MG storyline.
