A bug to put in ear of those with no Dx.......
"A bug in ear" (no pun intended).......have those of you with no dx. been tested for Lyme Disease?
I was tested for it, but as (my) luck would have it, I was antibiotic at the time and come to find out......testing is worthless while on antibiotic. I have read that Lyme can cause Neuropathy symptoms. Also said some people never see a rash or experience beginning common symptoms. But, in my own mind, I am wondering if one wouldn't have other symptoms of some kind with neurological pain/sensations........ Anybody got any info/ideas on this? |
I've been tested twice and both times it came back negative. Although research and other sources shows that false negatives are very common for lyme. Perhaps Mrs. D. or others can chime in here as to whys of it all.

Liza Jane--
--has a number of threads about this here; origianlly her neurolgoical issues were considered idiopathic, or possibly spinal; it took a long time for her and her doctors to discover that there was very likely a Lyme connection.
Lyme is one of those great mimickers of other conditions (as is B12 deficiency), and many here are familiar with the controversy among medical professionals as to just how widespread Lyme is, what are the appropriate tests for it, and whether co-infections expalin many of the varied possible symptoms. I think these are good sites to start looking into the possibility: http://www.columbia-lyme.org/ http://www.ajnr.org/cgi/content/full/30/6/1079 |
I was tested but negative. I was camping a month before all this started, but never had any bite or rash. Still not sure if I believe the negative test.

Honestly? I should test positive for Lymes?
But don't, nor for West Nile, both of which are more common in my area than one would like/prefer!
That said? I've enuf other immune issues not environmental to say? Thanks'? No more? PLEASE? Living in a prime Lymes' area I've been on the 'alert' for problems for ages/decades really. Testing and treatments tho are sub-par so far and thus lead to more frustrations. I know of many who might have or do have. It's not FUN! Not at all! I wouldn't be surprised if some time down the road? I get that extra, of Lymes'? Not surprised at all. Does this help at all? Testing's got a loong way to go still for these, hopefully soon.:hug:'s - J |
It does sound like testing leaves a lot to be desired.....

My easy way out plan would be.......find a doc that would give me the appropriate antibiotic, try it for 2-4 weeks, if it helped with these symptoms we have our answer, if not, couldn't really hurt me that much to be on antibiotics..........it's better than missing dx. for years and letting the Lyme spread and get worse......IMHO! No the trick is finding a Dr. that would see it my way! |
Seems to me a lot of false negs on these tests.........
