I have a question about epsom salts
I know this product is magnesium sulfate. And I know that soaking one's feet in it gets the magnesium into the body.
But can the same results happen if one, instead of soaking the feet, instead takes a bowl, adds some epsom salts, and places a hand in it. This is just a question posed out of curiosity. The majority of people soak their feet in this product. But what if one doesn't want to carry a basin over to where they are sitting and instead thinks it's simpler to place a bowl of water with some epsom salts on a counter, and places a hand in it for approximately 10 minutes or so (let's say while one is watching tv ). Would the body get the same results as if one soaked their feet in it? Just curious. thanks much Melody |
I was reading about this a bit when I was looking for easy detox with bath salts.
It was awhile ago.... something to do with the feet the have more ability to absorb/cleanse possible gravity plays a part too 20-30 minutes was the recommended for the detox bath salts not sure it that is needed if you're mainly going for mag uptake. |

Thanks much I gather the feet is the way to go. lol Melody |
It works anywhere on the body.
My son does his hands. (plays guitar). I've done it on my knee also. (upNorth where we don't have a bathtub, I made strong epsom salts compresses, and did my swollen knee for an hour, sitting on the dock in the sun.) There is a limit to how much will go in...as it is an osmosis thing. You can buy a cream too --Kirkman makes it. Used mostly for children, but anyone can use it. |
we have also found that soaking a wash cloth in the warm epsom solution and then applying it to the needed area helps too

Late last night I found a site that had mag oil & mag flakes and some interesting info.
It said you can make a rub or bath spray with the product and it will absorb quite easily. Another site said similar for Epsom salt rubs and soaks. rub it on after a bath or shower , make a shower scrub or even a hand scrub or rub. It seems the difference is between doing a detox with bath salts and/or using Epsom salts for the magnesium uptake. |
