SFN and erythromelalgia
On Monday almost one year after the skin punch biopsy, I'll be seeing the same neurologist for reevaluation who performed and dx'd the SFN.
Following that dx, was diagnosed the next month with Sjogren's Syndrome. This has been an interesting year with a variety of "weird" occurrences, one of which was the redness of the palms of the hands and hot flushing of the face. The face flushing doesn't happen nearly as often as it did in the early/mid months of these two diseases. Researched erythromelalgia a bit and read that small fiber neuropathy of any etiology can cause this. Will ask this neurologist whether or not she thinks I have it. Neither other neuros nor my rheumatologists had an answer when I asked what the redness/face flushing was. Does anybody here with SFN also have flushing/redness? |
Were you taking an SSRI drug when you had this happen?
(antidepressants, like Elavil, Prozac, Cymbalta, etc) Serotonin causes flushes like that, in some people. |
No, MrsD, I wasn't. Actually the hand redness was happening even before the burning neuropathy (SFN) showed up.
