3.0 Klonopin at 9:00 pm -- finally starting to wear off

Hi,

1.
I woke up Monday with chest pains and a sort of breathlessness. I was too sleepy to take any Klonopin when I had to drive around with errands.

2.
Pdoc wants me to try to take the 3.0 Klonopin throughout the day (1.0 mgs every six hours or so).

3.
I took all of the 3.0 mgs at once. It knocked me out and I fell asleep.

I don't know what to do with myself, but I am relaxed right now.

. . . might have to go back to 2.5 before I get used to the 3.0.

glad that you feel relaxed and that you got some sleep.
it is hard knowing what is best to do.
listen to your body.

when was the last time you had a stress test? just to rule out physical rather than anxiety. I am worried for you. I have trouble with anxiety big time but i haven't had chest pains but of course my life is sedentary and your's isn't.
when i have anxiety 2mg of klonopin does nothing

Dear Bobby,

I had a chemical stress test in mid November and an echocardiogram two weeks later. My internist sent me to a cardiologist to rule out stuff.
The cardio says I am fine.

In the past, Wellbutrin worked on my anxiety.
Pdoc and I have tried other anti-depressants that would help but the initial side effects are too much for me.

Dear Bizi,
Thank you.
Pdoc and I will come up with a solution.

I hope that this solution happens soon because I had to stay home from work today because I was afraid I might get agitated in front of other people.

thoughts on scheduling... plans for adapting to schedules

Dear Mari

i am sorry about this scary experience.

i hope pdoc can come up with a workable plan.

i also think maybe you guys could set some "limit" conditions, and if you are to adapt to a very different schedule, perhaps some guidelines on doses.

it might help to work on general questions like these with pdoc.

1. what is the target daily dose? (guessing 3.0...)
2. what is the min daily dose, if i end up having to take it all in one shot?
- put differently, what is the max i should take in one shot?
3. how close together can doses be?

another thought: can we do this change-of-schedule gradually? i.e.:

1. let me get used to taking a midday/afternoon dose in addition to the bed time dose. say 1mg + 2mg. if i miss the 1mg, i do not try to make it all up at bed time, say, take only 2.5mg then, not 3.

2. once i am reliably doing 1mg + 2mg, add the morning dose for a schedule of 1mg tid. then.... ?
- if i miss the first dose, take second 1mg as scheduled, but 1.5 at night? or 2.0?
- if i miss the second dose, take 2.0mg at night?
- if i miss BOTH daytime doses... take 2.5 at night?

these are just meant as ideas. i'd probably do something like this myself. if they are not helpful, perhaps they will at least stir your thoughts in the direction of what would be helpful to you.

(((hugs)))
