I've been sick and not around. So if I don't make sense that is why.

I am going to work this next week on catching up on everything.

UgH! Hate it when your sick one day, but hmmm, 11 is the pits.

Donna:grouphug:

I know that there have been a few persistent bugs in my area... I had one that lasted a long time and led to pneumonia.
I want to slap people who go around coughing in public, not bothering to cover their mouths. Hand washing isn't very effective with airborne viruses.

I hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself, Donna!

Question for all!

I have not been able to keep any of my medicines down for almost 2 weeks.

I am not sure how to go about starting again.

Can you give me some ideas.

I can't exactly call the doctor's. Can't afford the visits they will require.

Medformin ? I take two 500 pills at night. I've tried 3 and threw them all
up.

Cymbalta ? I take 1 60mg in morning and one at night.
I'm thinking try a week of one and then add second.

neurotin generic? This one I have to add back slowly, I'm thinking.

I take 2 300 or 400 mg, three times a day.
But I think going 1 for 4 days, then adding another, and another.
THen working back to the 2 three times a day.

Zanaflex, 1 ? 3 times a day. This is one my primary wants me off.
So we will see.

there are others. But these are first important.

I can't just go back on all at once.

I also have to make sure I can keep them down.

Dear Donna,

1. The most immediate concern is that you are still sick.
Call your primary doc to ask for help getting better.

2. Medformin seems like the most important of these meds that you list.

3. Do you take any heart medication? That might be important.

4. Are you drinking liquids? Can you keep them down?

on adding in Neurontin... which i've done...

Dear Donna,

on the gabapentin, may i suggest you add/increase doses, first in the evening, then in the rest of the day, and slower at first.
  • Start with one pill (300, or 400mg) at night. take it after you are sure the Metformin is going to stay down. the last thing you need is multiple meds coming up. Do that for 2 nights.
  • The 3rd night, increase the evening dose to target (2 pills). Again, stay at that dose a second night.
  • Next, I'd introduce a midday dose - one pill. See how you fare with grogginess or other side effects, before stepping up...
  • Then, add one pill in the morning. See how you fare...
  • Next, increase the midday dose to target (2 pills) and see how you fare...
  • Last of all, bump up the morning dose, to target (2 pills).

i've done it this way with Neurontin before - and with other 3xday AEDs because they tend to cause grogginess which can even be convenient at night, a nuisance at midday, and a horrible in the morning. my past doctors have also suggested this approach.
that is just my input, clearly, listen to your own doctor since so many meds are involved and you are unwell still, and your own body.

you might need to wait to add the neurontin until you can handle the Metformin without having nausea. it depends which is more important to get up to target, so ask the doc.

many healing hugs dearie :hug::hug::hug:

Thanks everyone

Yes, I am procrastinating about calling the doctor's office.

I was supposed to go to the ER if not better after the
Phengran suppository.

But because I've never taken it this form before. I didn't know
how long I should wait.

And my husband is a pain on this. We just might not have the
insurance to go.

your nausea should have subsided very quickly this route is absorbered the fastest way. It will make you sleepy just to let you know that.

Donna,

I'm sorry you're feeling so lousy! And having trouble tolerating the pills you need. Have you tried the suppository yet?

I HATE the ER and it isn't cheap. Unless it's an emergency, IMHO you're better off following up with your primary in the office or over the phone.
To the credit of ERs you can receive care w/o insurance and then agree to pay a small amount a month (ie/ $10/mo).
They can treat immediate nausea in the ER, but they will just send you home with the same pills your primary can prescribed. They can order the same tests that your primary can order.

I hope this is just a cold symptom & you get better soon!
