Vitamin C
Hi Friends,
I caught something in the RSDA newsletter this month that I thought I would throw out here. They are beginning to find out that if a person immediatly begins to take vitamin c after a fracture, it can prevent RSD from setting in. So I guess that if I know anyone that gets a fractured bone, I am going to recommend that they start taking vitamin c at once. Wow! If only I had known this over 8 years ago, I wonder what it could have prevented? Have a good evening all, Lisa:girl(sad): |
I've posted at least twice the studies done in the UK on trauma or surgery to the wrist or ankle, and Vit C preventing subsequent RSD.
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post630932-2.html This post has one link in it to a PubMed article. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19840748 This patient improved using Vit C 2 yrs AFTER RSD http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19556664 I found 15 articles about this by using keyword: Vitamin C reflex sympathetic dystrophy on PubMed. We had a poster here long ago who has now passed away, Vicc who really suggested strongly to use antioxidants like grapeseed extract for RSD to help prevent spread. Now with the information about Vitamin C which is an antioxidant too, this seems worth exploring IMO. |
Yeah my pain doctor actually suggested taking Vitamin C which I do. Can't hurt so why not.
