Question about bruising self from pain.

I went to see my Dr. yesterday evening to get shots in my chest and he noticed this bruise on my left side under my arm. It looks like a hand print. Palm and fingers. He was teasing me about having a boyfriend I hadn't told him about. He said it didn't look like bruising nor from the shingles so he wants to keep an eye on it.
My thought is I did it myself.. Since I had the shingles my left arm, shoulder and breast area has been so much worse. I put 3 lidoderm patches on a few nights ago, one in that area. I am thinking the pain was so bad, I squeezed it to try and make it stop. I've done that before and thought about taking a hammer to places at times. Does this sound possible?
I don't get on much due to the pain and my grandson graduated last week so I am busy with him. His car got hit during the last storm so he hasn't gotten it back to start looking for work or making plans for college. We had another snowstorm last night so the weather here is cruddy and seems to be going to stay this way for awhile.
Thanks for the help on this. I do hope all of you are seeing some good days.
Ada

Hi Ada,

Sorry I must of missed the post about your shingles. Shingles can be a real b....! My Uncle had them really bad and we took him to my pain doctor and he received shots for the shingles. His was mainly on his torso and the shoots worked wonderful for him. Ofcourse he did not have RSD. And today he is shingle clear. I hope the treatment works for you. I have worried about myself with shingles. Both sides of my family has had them at different times and I had a mild case of chicken pox when I was a kid and from what I understand chicken pox has something to do with getting shingles later in life. I have been told that if you had a light case of chicken pox as a child you are more likely to develope shingles as an adult.

It amazes me when someone brings up a topic and I say to myself wow that happens to me to. Brusing I never brusied easy prior to RSD but now if I get a bruise or a black and blue mark it takes forever to go away. Which is something that never happened pre RSD days. Weirdes desease in the world.

Ada I hope you feel better. We are getting another 9 inches of snow today on top of the 8 inches that is still lying around from prior storms nothing melts up here. My daughter has not a full week of school since before xmas. My son is happy he works at a ski resort and if he can't down our mountain they come and get him.

Good Luck keep us posted

Hi Gabby and Carol,

Everybody seems to be getting snow right now. We are suppose to have another storm coming in tomorrow. It was a whiteout the other evening when I came home from the Drs. office. I live 5 blocks from the office and I thought about parking my car and walking home but had on the wrong shoes and coat. I don't mind the snow if I can just sit in and do nothing but that doesn't always work.

Gabby, this is the second time for the shingles for me. I had them back in the late 80's on my right side. This time it was my thumb and above the wrist. They are going away but I still have the pain now in my chest and shoulder and down the arm. It a different type of pain then the other I have had in my chest. I wear lidocaine patches and he gave me lidocaine gel and I got shots so hopefully it will calm down soon. It does come from having chicken pox as a child. I can remember me and my 2 sisters had it at the same time. We stayed upstairs in our rooms until we got better. My brother had the shingles in his eyes a few years back. He spent time in the hospital. I don't know if they run in the family though. Out of the 10 of us, only 2 of us have had them. Hopefully you won't get them. They do leave an aftermath. I can't stand for long due to the pain in my right side and in the summer it's the worst. My Dr. did say he was going to see about getting me the vaccine so I won't get them again. I'm not sure my insurance will pay for the shot though.

The schools here in this town would make the kids go to school if the snow was neck deep. That's been a thorn in my side with that school. When all other schools around here close, they stay open. I worry about the kids having to drive or even ride the bus when it's so bad. Luckily Dustin's out of there now.

I don't remember where you live but boy is all states getting snow or other problems now. Stay in and just enjoy the safety of your home. Both of you.

Ada
