Dr. Terry Wahl. Food for the brain

Facinating series. I highly reccomend watching it.

Dr. Wahl actually has MS, and started on copaxone with a mild form of the disease. She become worse, and went from active to needing a power chair that tilts. From Tysabri to Novatrone and then she decided to try to take care of herself. Here is her story. Its laid out in six bites so its easy to watch peice by peice.

I've seen her speak in Calgary. Direct MS brought her in a couple of years ago. Compelling story. I thought about doing it, but how much kale can a girl eat?

I cannot eat green leafy vegetables because I have Porphyria, and those things
are mostly avoided by Porphs. However, I eat a very good organic diet, including
the Swank MS diet, which I follow except for my higher egg use. I KNOW that
I become less stable on my feet if I get off my diet, and I KNOW this has kept
me walking until now, as far as stability goes, even though I have neuropathy in
my feet which is painful. Diet is a real aid for us. I have been on Swank for over
a generation--at least twenty five years. And I use supplements too and hope I
will always be able to afford them and get them.

Thats what I loved about her, she did say folks could use suppliments and while its preferrable to eat the real thing, as the stuff we get is more pure, and fiber, and the green chloro stuff, she did say she knew that many couldnt and wouldnt eat this type of diet and gave good advice on which suppliments to get.

CoQ10
Krill oil
B vitamins
D vitamins
and so on.

I thought it was facinating that she made the statement that she could hammer me all day long with a Gabapentin drug, but if my body doesnt have the building blocks to make it, its just a waste. Really made me think.

I watched it all again yesterday afternoon. To me....stuff like this is fascinating and I could listen to it all day. Each time I listen to it I hear something I missed before.

I already take Krill Oil and Vitamin D. I need to look up Nutritional Yeast because I'd never heard of it. I don't know how to get more of it except by a supplement.
