For anyone with sound sensitivity...
 

For me sound sensitivity was the slowest symptom to surface, but I soon accepted it was here to stay and so I invested in some decent earplugs. I bought them ages ago and they've allowed me to do things I would have had to avoid, without anyone even knowing I'm wearing earplugs.

The earplugs I have are from a UK supplier - ProGuard - http://www.proguarduk.co.uk//index.php There's a list of stores that you can buy the earplugs from on that website. To get them made I bought what was basically just packaging from a store that stocks them. I then had an appointment to have ear moulds made, which I sent to ProGuard in the packaging I had bought. Several weeks later I recieved the earplugs.

The earplugs are clear silicon, and obviously made to fit your ears perfectly. They don't just sit in your ear like the cheap rubber ones, they are properly inserted into your ear for a super snug fit and barely noticeable. Sure if someone looks directly at the opening to your ear they will spot it, but I've worn them around many people and barely anyone has noticed.

With them you will get a variety of filters. You can buy these filters separately too, so you can have the full range. The earplugs I bought were called 'attenuating earplugs'. There is also earplugs for musicians, for travel etc. There's lots to choose from depending on your need.

The filters are very small and are fitted easily. The earplugs can be washed and are very durable so there's not much concern about them getting damaged if they're in your pocket. I cannot recommend these enough. I'm not sure if it's possible for those of you in the US to get these, but there will be some equivalent you could search for if not. I just wanted to explain what is available out there and tell you all how worth it they are. I can now go to bars and to music events without pain, without my ears ringing for hours afterwards and without having to wear bright orange foam earplugs to avoid it.

These are great ear plugs. They are available in the US at hearing aid centers. They are commonly known as musicians ear plugs. They cost about $175.

I hope to be able to afford some soon.
