Orthodontics?

Has anyone went through the braces treatments? Has anyone had an extraction done? If so how did you feel having these done with RSD?

Hey. I had braces as a kid but then at 32 my teeth shifted. Anyhow I have RSD too for 4 years so went for some opinions on getting them fixed. I have been doing invisalign which has been going well. Not everyone can do invisalign but I am more comfortabe doing this then I was in braces. My orthodontist has had to shave some teeth which made me nervous but so far it has went smooth and I am almost finished with everything. Part of why I chose this orthodontist is how concerned and careful he was around the rsd. Also why he felt invisalign would be good. I never had a tooth pulled with rsd though but my cleanings go ok. Everyone is different in how they respond. I just think it is important to inform the dentist of the problems of rsd you have

Thanks Daniella for your response. I am not a candidate for invisalign:( I wish I was. He said those four teeth has to come out or my fronters will shift too far out. I was okay with the cleanings just that my pain level sky rocketed:( thanks for your imput i do appreciate it

I would get another opinion cause when I got 3 for the orthodontic work the first 2 had opposite things they wanted to do and why I went for a 3rd. Also my teeth were crowded and why they shaved them but was told they don't like to pull teeth unless it is a must. If someone wanted to pull it I would of not done it. Also it would be with separate people I would think. Dentist for cleaning/caveties,oral surgeon, and orthodontist for that type of work.

I talked it over with my husband and we decided against it. My teeth aren't in that bad of a shape for me to put myself through that.

I did have to have a molar extracted not too long ago. I went to an oral surgeon and he used some gas along with the regular novacaine injections. I was surprised and got along just fine. Lisa
