Celexa anyone?

Okay, after being soooooo sad for soooooo long I finally got in to my GP to discuss it. I explained to her my biggest disappointment in my life has been the gradual deterioration of wanting to drive. I told her that it started out with an "off balance" feeling behind the wheel almost as if I were floating. Obviously it would freak me out. I went through this off and on for some time quite regularly and it caused me to get phobic about even trying to drive. Even the good days found me more phobic than not.

She seemed to listen and asked me to try Celexa commonly perscribed for anxiety, panic, phobia, OCD, and even PTSD as well as depression. Its another Seratonin increaser. Most common side effect is headache which she said would go away in a short time period.

Took one yesterday.....yepper.....headache. Woke me up at 4 am and forced me to take a tylenol so I could get back to sleep.

I am willing to give this drug a try and realize so many of us have different experiences with the same drugs.

The doc did say to me....."Well, lets give this a try for 30 days and hopefully you will come see me in 30 days by driving here yourself. If not, then we'll try something else until we find something that helps you regain some control. AND SHE WANTED TO GET SOME CONTROL BEFORE THE WHOLE THING MAKES ME TOTALLY DEPRESSED.
YAY! Someone finally understood

Anyone else tried this drug?

My MD wants to move me to celexa and I have resisted so far. I am completely exhausted by my ever growing list of meds, and didnt want to add one more. I would love to hear more from folks that are on this.

did it help prevent your anxiety?
side effects?
weight gain?
were you able to release your other anxiety meds?

Thanks for bringing up this topic!

Celexa- yes.
I have taken it for years. No weight gain no bad effects. When I got super depressed they upped the dose without a problem.
My only recommendation is to start a lesser dose and slowly work up.My first foray with an AD was frightful as they started me full dose!

Yeah!!!! I'm so glad your dr. listened to you. That is awesome!

I am on Celexa (generic) 10 mg. (lowest dose). It seems to work well for me. I was on Paxil previously and ended up with a flat affect from it. Once I started the Celexa, I got my personality back. I did not notice any significant side effects. I started at 20 mg which made me a little too high strung so the dr. lowered my dosage. I have been on the 10 mg dose for a few years now.

Again, I am so, so happy for you that you found someone who would listen to you. I hope this works for you and wish you luck! Let us know how you are doing.
