Strange Sensations
 

I've been having the strangest sensation in my left leg. I wanted to see if anyone else has ever experienced this, too.

If I turn my head to the right and then look down (like looking at the floor) I can feel my left leg go completely weak. No buzzing or vibrating feeling....just weak. It's the weirdest feeling. I usually notice it when I'm sitting at the computer but I tried it while standing and my leg nearly gave out on me! I can almost feel the muscle relax to the point of not being able to hold me up.

Could this be caused by a lesion on the spine? I'm not freaking out about it....just wondering if this is something comparable to the buzzing, vibrating feeling that happens when you touch your chin to your chest. I cannot think of the term for that......it's on the tip of my tongue. :rolleyes:

I remember a tingling in my left fingertips when I turned my head to the right. It happened about 4 years ago and was the beginning of my getting dxd with MS. My only lesion is in my neck.

But, you say yours is more weakness than anything. Guess I can't help you there.

The leg buzz when you drop your chin is called "Lhermittes sign."

I don't feel like I'm in a flare. Otherwise, except for this little blip, I feel okay. It's just such a strange sensation and not easily ignored. It doesn't happen when I turn my head to the left......but it effects my left leg when I turn my head to the right. :confused:

Oh well, at least I can feel my leg! I remember when they were both numb. Now that was weird!

There's that word again....How many times I gotsta tell ya, girl....Nothing is strange when is comes to MS!:confused::D

Sally, you have that wrong. EVERYTHING is strange when you have MS...which is normal...for MS.

I hope it's not a flare either. Too many of us are flaring and exacerbation-ing. We all need to stop that, dont we?

I feel pretty good. My balance is shot but that's "normal" for me. :rolleyes:

Oh well......it is what it is. I don't even call the Neuro anymore when stuff like this happens. All they do is prescribe steroids and I won't do them. I'll mention it when I go back in July for my semi-annual visit.

Kelly I have all sorts of abnormal sensations in my left leg, which are now normal for me. ;) But, I haven't experienced what you are experiencing.

I know a guy with MS that when he presses the brake in the car he loses control of his bladder. :eek: I also know of someone who doesn't have MS that gets something similar when she sits up straight and turns her head. She also gets very dizzy when she does this. It's only when she is sitting up, not leaning back, laying down, or standing. Really bizarre. And, she had a normal MRI. Go figure.

You are like me in that I won't do steroids unless I lose my vision. That would be the only time. I react horribly to steroids and to me it is just not worth it. Steroids are for the inflammation, not the symptoms.

Well, it's still happening this morning. Never a dull moment! I guess I should be thankful that I have "built in" entertainment to keep me occupied!

I'll jot this little sx down in my journal and tell the Neuro about it when I go for my semi-annual appt. but I'm not gonna worry about it. ;)

I think you should put a "spin" on it. How about "Good Vibrations" instead of strange sensation? Sounds a lot more fun! :)
