Ativan, Lortab and all that stuff

The doctor has now put my Mom on Ativan twice a day, small dose. So this lady has gone form Ultram and Tylenol the first of January to Fentanyl patch 100 mcg every 72 hours, lortab 7.5 mg 1 - 2 every 6 hours as needed and now Ativan! Needless to say she is a little more foggy and gets distressed when you say she is wrong about something. But she is resting better and able to do better in PT.

I think Ativan is amazing. It can take you from stressed and internally chewing your fingernails off to being able to rest and sleep. Its a great med. I hope it brings mom some peace.

Doydie, your Mom is so fortunate to have so many people around her that love and care about her.

The hospice that my Dad was in allowed family to stay however long they wanted....even overnight.....but they did all the "caring" work such as changing sheets, giving meds and making sure he was comfortable. Will you and your sister have to provide all of your Mom's care or will the hospice nurses help, too?

You're all in my prayers. It's so difficult to watch a parent's health decline but I'm glad you have the opportunity to be there with her right now.

Mom will be in 'in home' hospice. That is her wishes to die at home and we will do all we can to do that for her. We have picked Southern Care hospice which is a national chain I believe. At the moment they came in the room for the interview you could tell the compassion they had for not only Mom but all of us as her family. It seems like they will be in her apartment quite a bit and she is in an assisted living facility which will give my sis and I a lot of the help. We shouldn't have to do any of the taking to bathroom, bathing for her.

Doydie - Keeping you all in my prayers.

I agree with Dej - Ativan is a great medication. It will help your mom in breaking the pain cycle and keep her relaxed.
