Big Pharma and my TV
I am so tired of being told about drugs that I MUST run to my MD and talk about.
The Detrol discussion or Boniva for my bones, and lets not forget the Asprin is good for backaches as well as heart attacks! I am in the habit of tuning them out, but slow down to hear some of the recently. Have you listened to the side effects of some of this stuff? Bleeding rectums and incontinence, and sleep walking/eating/driving without memory of the event. SCARY! Why do I need to know about EDS in men? Who invented that little charmer? Now we have pills that keep men at the ready 24 hours a day! Eeeek! you finally get him to pain the garage and the commerical shows you it can "turn into a romantic moment" Really?! I finally get him to take out the trash and now he wants to get romantic about it? anyone else irked? I dont know what half this stuff does, yet I am supposed to want to have the niacapsian conversation with my MD. STOP! if my MD thought I needed this stuff he would talk to me about it. I wouldnt need the TV to prep me for it. would I? My MD advocates diet, exercise, natural alternatives and the less pills the better! EVERY pill has side effects. As a matter of fact that is how that little blue pill was found to help men in the bedroom. It was a BP drug that was shown to help men downstairs, so big pharma saw it had crappy use as a BP drug but great potential as a daddy's little helper. STOP! :( |
Yes, I get tired of all the commercials, too. There's so many of them!
My take on it is that people have become reluctant to take pills for everything and the pharmaceutical companies are feeling the pinch. I guess they reveal the side effects in their commercials to reduce their liability if something goes terribly wrong. Besides the "pill pushing" commercials I've seen an increase in the attorney "were you harmed by this med, if so let's sue them" commercials. |
O.K. Dej,
You made me spit. Take out the garbage without nagging and THEN maybe take your little blue pill. When my young single friend had a date again and again and that 20 something guy presented what she called a Koosh ball, well, that was something he should discuss with his doctor but he (or me) don't need to see a commercial about it. I tune out also. I have enough side effects as it is. |
Even Bob, who never got within four feet of the remote, has discovered that wonderful "mute" button.

and why are the commercials so LOUD?!

I think Congress passed some sort of law to make the people making the commercials turn the volume down. I think I saw something about that a few months ago. Not sure if it was wishful thinking now tho.
(dramatic pause and Jeopardy! music playing while I go Google this) Ok, I wasnt imagining it! It doesnt take effect for a year tho. So, I'm guessing just before Xmas (2011) this year. (maybe? the bill was signed by Obama in Dec 2010) http://newsblog.projo.com/2010/12/ob...ouse-bill.html |
