Insurance

I was approved for SSDI while receiving LTD benefits from my former employer. My LTD benefits include health, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. Now that I have been approved for SSDI, I also enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan. Which plan is primary? Can I use both for prescription coverage as well to reduce my co-payment amount?

Thanks

As a general rule, Medicare is almost always secondary if you have other insurance.

Your co-payments are always OOP. No reducing those. However, suggest that you check w/your Social Service department to find out if your state and/or county has a FREE and/or discount prescription program for Seniors/Disabled.

Also read the info in the Medicare & You 2011 booklet. It is personalized for you & your state. Your state may have programs that will pay your premiums as well as your co-pays. If you have not received the booklet already, you can call Medicare to send you one.
