Relation between TOS and piriformis/hip pain?
I just read a really old post (2008) that suggested that TOS and piriformis issues often go together. I am assuming this is due to poor posture from the TOS putting the weight of the head forward and thus causing strain in the lumbar region.
How common is this? I know I struggle with IT-band and piriformis pain, ESP since my MVA/whiplash, but I think a solid connection with the two would be significant on treatment approaches for PTs. So, let me know if this is common and if you found any good reads on the topic. Thanks! :grouphug: |
For me the upper c spine alignment must have been off after my horse bucked me off as a teenager. But no internet back then...to learn about these things.
After all the years later (30+) & repetitive job I got more aches & strains and noticed uneven shoulders, uneven hips etc . see www.upcspine.com for more info on that part of it. [SIGN / SYMPTOM CHECKLIST] http://www.upcspine.com/self.htm And Sharon Butler's ( www.selfcare4rsi.com ) theory is the sticky fascia angle - which I think applies for me too. I do have to loosen up most mornings and cold wet weather is the worst for getting going some days. repetitive motion damages + sticky fascia + unevenness caused by off centered atlas/axis of the c1 c2 |
Count me in too,
Became so bad that when I go to the flea market, or travel I have a rollater push cart I can sit on too. I have deep massage, tens, and use my lidoderm patches FROM the tilt of the hip from the syndrome, I developed an ostephyte I think it is called. The spine from the twist, made the two disc develop the bone spur type thing. I developed many herniation's and lots of increased osteoarthritis. The thighs pain, and back pain that makes the legs go out or contorted bent over walk to get around when the spasms are bad. I did have piniformas and l-5 epidural that helped but did not cure for almost a year before I injured cleaning out an estate. Pushing, lifting, carrying, destroyed what I had maintained. What helps, hot tub, taking my meds instead of skipping. Hope that you can calm it down. At 56 I look worse walking then my grandmother did at 76....sucks how the upper screws up the lower... If you feel the PI, is it higher on one side; the hip, are they tilted, tipped forward, I love the deep massage to loosen. INVACARE I paid $80 for mine, 6 inch wheels and not so geriatric looking. I can not even get into a Walmart w/o laying over the handles of a cart anymore. Standing in line, the pressure is excruciating. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...QL._SS500_.jpg |
