Yes, my fingers have and still do change colors, alot depends on the weather, how much I use or not use them. Its all part of the disease so dont let it freak you out k, sometimes soaking my hands in warm water does help, but hang in there, your not alone  Dee |
Debra,
Color changes are not at all uncommon. My foot CRPS has resulted in some pretty darn unusual color combinations in that limb! This goofy disorder has a mind of its own. BUT, you can learn about how it operates and find things that you can do to counter the negative effects. I too like a warm water therapy for the affected areas. Everybody is so unique with this condition. You have to experiment a bit and find out what works for you. I did a lot of online research and found a lot of tips. There is a lot of help out there. Don't believe everything you see of course, and you have to be sharp enough to weed out things that don't add up. You need professionals that are EXPERIENCED in this to help you when you have questions. Many doctors themselves don't understand CRPS. Not their fault usually, they just don't have much experience in it. I saw one doctor that has seen only 2 cases of this in 26 years. So a thank you to him and I kept looking! You are your best health care advocate. Good luck to you! |
Debra,
The color changing is all part of this lovely disorder. Just the like the sensations, etc. I hate it - my fingers got a purplish color, kind of matched the mottled purple-reddish color of my messed up foot and knee. Changes in the nails are also common. Mine have horrible, horrible ridges of them. They feel so gross. This may also sound strange, but it hurts like hell now to cut either my toe or finger nails. They are extremely brittle though, yet thick. I don't understand it. |
My fingerschange color too. They usually have pupleish blotches but turn white when pain is the most. My finger nails also have those ridges and they grow faster than my other hand. All theses symptoms are common with this "monster". Just try to except it and learn all you can...
Hope for better days, Jimbo |
Hi Debra,
Yes, I get colour changes in my right hand all the time. Sometimes its a purplish/blue with white dots, other times its bright red and at times it has been very white looking. I also get a shooting pain from my ring finger as well as a shooting pain from my shoulder (rotator cuff). Unfortunately, it seems this is common with RSD as I have read many others get this as well. My physio therapist told me to use moist heat on the hand when it became cold and bluish/purple/white and painful. Not sure if it actually does something or not but think it gives me a little piece of mind that I am doing something to make it better. Sadly, it is usually just time that takes it away. Take care, Karen |
