I went on a date!

My husband, who is here with me a lot anyway took me home, i did a load of laundry so I won't think I'm in the same clothes day in and day out, took a shower then went out to eat. Then we went back and let my sister go home so she could do the same.

Monday is the volunteer day to cook for the families. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy and home made peach preserves. Lunch was very good chicken noodle soup, choice of very good salad, fresh spinach, fruit or regualr tossed. Supper was spaghetti with garlic bread, three different cakes. We are very torn about what to put in the obituary for what to do in leu of flowers. What we have is a memeorial fund that my parents created years ago when my sister died of cancer through the Indiana state Baptist convention. It provided college scholarships for disabled students. it has since then evolved into a general scholarship for anyone giong into a christian school with a church related major. All of the grandkids have used it. But I would love to honor this wonderful inpatinet hospice. it's just amazing how they care for all of us and it's all here because of public funding. So they depend on people like us putting this in the obit. Mom is weaker but still hanging in there. The two who couldn't come this past weekend are coming tomorrow. Then everyone will have said goodby and given her their love and blessings for her to go Home

There is no reason you can't list both charities in the obit and let people choose between them. I have seen that many times.

For my Dad we asked that donations be made in his name to the Hospice he was in. People did that and sent flowers! My house looked like a florist for quite a while afterwards.

You talking about the food at the hospice made me think about how well we were all treated when my Dad was there. If I had had an appetite and had eaten all the good things that were brought for us and the other families who were staying there I'd have gained quite a bit of weight! There was always someone bringing in some goodie. It was nice not to have to think or worry about when and where we'd eat.
