Trigger Points
Ok we all know there are good days and bad days and some really horrible days with our pain. My question is, are your tender points always tender??
|
From my reading in the past, tender points & trigger points are two different things.
I do get trigger points (TrPs) and I do have some tender points. the TrPs can be resolved (usually) buy manual TrP therapy - pressing til the pain dissipates. TrPs can cause referred pain and symptoms in other locations. scroll down on this link for more info on TrPs & then another section on it has links for FM & tender points. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post388-1.html and there are latent TrPs also - usually after you resolve the active TrPs the latent ones may show up as sore then. |
Well, for me no. There are days when my "tender" points aren't all that tender. It doesn't mean the pain is gone just that it isn't as severe when touched. I suppose like everything there are good days, and not so good days. I just try to be overjoyed with the good days and cope as best I can with the bad ones. Best of luck to all of us.

I just posted to your poll.
Thanks Jo-Mar for the clarification! Both for me are always there but I don't notice until someone touches me. My massage therapist is trained in working with fibromyalgia. She finds those spots in a heartbeat...like magic. Sometimes when I say "OUCH!" she'll tell me she's barely pushing. And that really varies from visit to visit. She knows when I'm in a bit of a flare. |
