forgetting doses
I have it down pat when it comes to bedtime meds. But I am struggling to remember to take mestinon 4 times a day with food. I had a most dramatic display of the importance of keeping my 30 mg doses on schedule today. Forgot to get the 2nd dose when I had lumch. Earlier I had walked the service dog fairly easily and was driving ok too. But when I tried to repeat those activities a while before supper, I had blurry vision and diplopia at near distances, plus I was getting wobbly knees also. Not until I reached for the supper dose did I see I had skipped the lunch dose. The last bout when all my mg symptoms got worse and I had extreme digestive problems has only been over a few days. I have been much better with vision and walking since I began to stick to the med schedule religiously. So I ordered a 'talking pill box with alarm'--a one-day, 4 dose type. I will transfer the day's pills every morning from the weekly pill keeper which I overlook so easily. Now, unless I have a death wish I don't know about, perhaps I can keep the meds on schedule. It is obviously extremely important for me.

I am so glad you have gotten one of those alarm pill boxes! They really do help alot. I also have a few of whatever I am taking on me, purse, wallet, just incase I am not home and realize I need to take it. Never know.

My trick is that I schedule alarms in my cell phone and have it remind me to take my mestinon. It definitely helps!

TSA and med alarms
Any one try to take an akarn pill box or an 'active' cell phone on a plane?
Noticed ET location on last entry. i am just over the mts--did PR for U-T way back when. (Daily hear radio ad for inn that says it is in the Tenn. Smoky mts; in my day it would have been ET Smoky mts.) Have they given up on 'the 3 states of Tennessee?--where my folks moved along side the French Broad in 1791.) |
alarms
Truman, I have a pill box that you speak of. It is to big for me to tout around, so I have a watch that has 5 diff alarms I can set on it. I wear a watch all the time. Another option that I used when I first started was a pill beeper. That worked well too. Guys are lucky there are tons of nice looking watches with alarms on em. Gals, we are not so lucky. There are a few. The one I wear that is cute is called Casio G series. But there are only a few out there that I'd wear. Giggle.

My pill box will stay home, except for going with me when I travel. Not sure I could set a watch or alarms on a cell phone anymore; hoping the device on the box is big enough for me to see (have a peculiar occular myasthenia that works like presbyopia--double vision, etc. up close, not at a distance).. Thanks!

Thanks, I have the same problems, if I miss a dose I am down for the count. I'm going to try the cell phone alarm. I always thought Mestinon could be used hit or miss to give you a boost, but now, I know it has to build up in your system and if you miss a few doses. ugh.
