shoulder abductor
 

Hi, I have TOS, I started wearing a shoulder abductor brace and it is giving me relief, can anyone tell me what is wrong then with my body, when the abductor shoulder brace, pulling my shoulders back gives relief? In other words, my body should be able to keep my shoulders held back without a brace, so is this a torn muscle isssue perhaps? or is this a way to fix (surgery ?) the shoulder area so that i do not have to wear this brace?

I am actually able to do some cleaning and stuff around the house wearing the brace, i wish i wore it months ago :Doh:

Just guessing and my own loose theory here.

The brace helps to put & hold you in the right posture.
But it might be only temporary while the brace is on.

So for long lasting results you need to figure out how to teach / train your body/ muscles to be able to have that posture most of the time without having to wear the brace.

For specific help a bodyworker or advanced posture PT might be best.
You can show them the brace and they can see how it positions you and they should be able to assess what muscles need relaxed and which need gently built up.


For those with desk work or other repetitious jobs- or any forward head, arms, shoulders postures happening...

Generally for many of us the front chest muscles get shortened and it pulls the upper back muscles too much and strains them. Them they get trigger points and them spasms.
The constant forward head posture will strain the the neck muscles and down the spinal muscles.
