update

As I posted many time in the past - my neuropathy started one day 5 1/2 years ago. All my blood tests were and are normal. Also all the neurological tests except of skin biopsy which came out - possitive. I visited so many neurologists to find out what and why something got wrong with my body. Finally, one of them DX me with toxic SFSN. (I worked in a Lab with so many chemicals, some of the very deangerous).
Searching for a cure or at least relief for my pain, numbness, burning sensations, I went through many things including - retiredness, yoga, thi chi, reflexology ect. after some sessions of "body cleanings", I realized that prevention of diery products, eggplants, tomattos, potetos, all sort of meat and gluten - decreased my symptoms. I was almost pain free for several months. We had an holiday this week and I skip my diet - which wasn't too smart and since then I have flares. My pain not at the level that I start of taking pain relief. Try to return back to the diet - hopefuly it will help with my pains.
I'm female, 55 years old. body wide SFSN.
I found this forum - very helpful, lot of knowledge and good friends.

That is really interesting.

Food intolerances, remain a cause for neuropathy type symptoms...and may remain hidden, unless patients like you become proactive and do the work to eliminate suspicious food groups.

You could try narrowing your range to gluten and nightshades and see if those are the culprits.

I remember your frustration with your discomfort, and I am so happy for you that you have some relief.

As an example, I had some stewed tomatos with oregano/garlic from DelMonte, that made my feet burn tremendously for 3 days just recently. The diced unseasoned Hunt's, did not.
I am replacing pasta slowly, with various beans, and those are more appetizing with tomatoes mixed in for me.

I am more and more curious about solanine build up in the body, which has been suggested as a result of potato consumption (and some tomatoes). I am also avoiding peppers and have much less GI problems too.

Diet can be such a trigger for misery! This board is seeing more and more positive results with food management. Thanks for the update. And Congratulations on finding a way to feel better!

Mrs. D, spaghetti squash makes an excellent substitute for pasta if it doesn't fall in the night shade group. Have you tried it?

Good idea... if only it were in the store now! But I will keep that in mind.

Edamame's are doing well for me, and so are black beans.
They are helping with magnesium too (and potassium).

I cannot stomach red pintos for some reason? But lentils also are tolerable but less tasty IMO.

we are what we eat

We have to skip all the junk food and eat only heathy things. I found raw food (Ann Vigmor) as a good basis for nutritions and one can add on this.

By the way rice pasta also good.

One way to make beans and grain easier to digest is to soak them overnight in water and about 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. This, of course, is assuming you are starting with dried beans and grains.

Pink lentils are my favorite. A good way to prepare them is to boil them with grated ginger and tumeric. You want enough water so when they are cooked, you get more of puree. Add some lemon juice at the end. You can then make a fragrant, spicy oil to put on it. I've sauteed garlic and cumin seed in ghee or olive oil very briefly and add to the cooked lentils. Oh...I don't pre-soak the pink lentils.
