Chronic Back Pain
Hi Yall! :)
I found this site while searching for anything to help my boyfriend, Jeremy and I must say I am so glad there is such a great support group like this. He has chronic back pain (the ER told us that when they refused to do anythign for him since it was NOT an emergency.) I am trying to find anything to help him. He had back surgery about 5 years ago and needs it again. He has no insurance, which is bad these days. His doctor just cut him off of his pain meds. He has to have surgery again and we are working on finding somewhere that will do that, but I am afraid it's going to take too long. He can hardly walk to the bathroom anymore and can't sleep. If there is anyone out there with ANY suggestions, home remedies, anything....your thoughts and ressomendations are welcomed and appreciated!! Thanks! |
Sometimes more surgery is not the best idea on top of the old injury. I have a friend who had a fusion 5 years ago and now she is again in Pain just above the fused part. she is not looking into more surgery but more alternative physical therapy. Perhaps you may have to go 360 degree, and look for alternative especially if you cannot afford more surgery. I would think about why the pain is returning. ie posture, muscle pain, acquired scoliosis and sciatica, look at yourself in the mirror, shoulder positions, hips ??. I would start an intensive search for other ways to get out of the pain, I would become a treasure hunters for back relief.... I would suggest a excellent book call "pain free" by pete egoscue and if can't afford the therapy, search the book and try everyday some stretching, to see what helps. I would also look at trigger point therapy ( clair davies). ( it is doing wonder for me ) I would look at postural yoga for back pain. I have 3 bulging disk and basically I am working on all kind of natural technic to get out of my pain. It is time consuming and hard work, but I am hoping for results soon. I had 7 month of neck pain, on top on my sciatica and back , and now with 3 month of neck therapy ( with egoscue, treat you own neck MC kensies, yoga for scoliosis) I am getting really close to be pain free. I know it is not easy, and I am like you, I want the quick fix, but right now, I am stuck with this, but I hope I will find a way. I believe the body wants to heal, if given the right tools. that my hope anyway.
hope this help virginie Quote:

chronic back pain
Of the many things that can be a source of chronic and severe back pain, the most common one is the muscles, yet doctors seem to be unable to recommend any effective treatments.
If the spine itself has problems, it is then up to the muscles to try to correct posture and enable movement around the damaged area. This causes huge muscle problems, yet it is usually the spine itself that is seen as the pain source. There are a few things you can do. Check and improve posture-sitting, standing, driving and sleeping etc. Avoid low and soft seats. Don't lie on a couch. Avoid driving. Bed-supportive mattress and pillow. Massage-remedial or sports should give immediate relief, at least temporarily. Magnesium oil/ chloride. This is by far the best treatment for sore muscles. It has made a tremendous difference to me over the last year. Unbelievable. Get a powder or liquid form, not weak pills. Should see an improvement in 1-2 weeks, and it should then keep getting better. This alone may fix the problem-it did for me. But if not, it will still give enormous relief from pain. |
