Brain Based Therapy

So , good day to all it has been a while since I posted. I hope some of us are improving. Myself, I have been plateau'd but recently starting to flare up (tingling in hands, groin, face, feet, knees, along with tons of muscle twitching and arthritic feeling in fingers) which took me to a chiropractor for 150$ consulation.
Initially I thought i definitely had something going on in my spine, if i slouch or sit akwardly it causes instant tingling in my feet and groin and if i change positions it greatly lessens intensity.. (considering my symptoms happened directly after a hard summer of landscaping... so I thought back problem)

The result:
He wants me to first test for , eggs, yeast, soy sensitivities (im gluten free 1 year now, and nothing changed) ,
Test for Cortisol in saliva, Thyroid panel 1, Anti-thyroid Peroxidase, and Thyroglobulin Ab.
Then He says that he believes I have a imbalance in my brain that is causing my nervous system to "under-fire". This is whats causing the tingling and also causes my thyroid to not perform correctly.

The fix:

Brain Based Therapy & oxygen - " painless modalities such as light, touch , smell, sound and motion are used to balance areas of the brain and the nervous system."

The cost:
3 months at 1500$. 95/session... OUCH ... im still a student sooooo.. that hurts.

has anyone heard of this or tried it? what do you think?

Cheers!

Run away as fast as you can! Or at least limp! Sounds like snake oil to me.

This is part of the new chiro wave called "functional medicine".

If you have insurance, some of the tests should be covered by that if ordered by a medical doctor.

"Functional Chiros" are quite expensive, very new, and questionable still for usefullness.

It is interesting you posted this cause my mom for me in my hometown just met with a doctor about this. For me there would be no touching me because I will not allow it from the pain but about brain based therapy etc. I have done biofeedback which the first time I did it I thought helped but the last I did not. Some is I have a hard time applying it at the time in real life. My mom also looked into and I may see this person a Naturopathic doctor. Has anyone seen this type? I saw a holistic doctor in the past but I felt he was out for the money and not so much for my care. I have mixed feelings on natural health and I would think regardless it would take a long period of time to feel a difference?

Hi Daniella ,

well the dr. that i saw was chiropractor but im sure there are some naturopaths trying this. It is pretty new i guess and not many trials.

THe only thing to date that has helped me is Acupuncture.. noticable difference by a specific dr... Dr. Tran in my town. I would continue seeing him but his hours are insane.. you get there at 4:30am and your treatment is at 6:30am. he is that busy you need to show up and wait in line. he stops taking pateints at noon. So i went for 2 weeks but i was late for school and work everyday.

anyway Im going back to him soon for a 3 month session. 25$/1 hr session.. he is intense if anyone lives in the area i recommend him. Like I said, the only treatment that has decreased the tingilng by 50% minimum. it was very noticable. Even if its just symptomatic relief.
