Has anyone tried lamotrigine (brand name lamictal)?
I just started taking lamotrigine and my Neurologist said it will take about 4 months to get me up to the most effective dose of 300mg. Has anyone tried this medication? If so, did it help with the burning pain? At what dose, did you start to see your pain decrease?
Thanks for the help! |

HAS anyone been on Lamictal ?/
Yes,
and although Lamictal didn't work for me, it does work for some people.....Did you know that if you don't have insurance to pay for this, that the laboratories that make this medication ( Lamictal ) have a PATIENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM that is available to everyone.....the income level ( to qualify for the assistance ) is QUITE HIGH ....so don't let that scare you off. You need to ask your doctor for the forms....or go to : They have phone numbers / forms I think....it has been years since I was on Lacmictal, but did use the patient assistance program.... Good Luck to you ! |
Thanks for that info! I actually might have a gap in insurance so that is great news for me! I had no idea any medications provided that. Thanks again!

Lamictal for Causalgia
I know this is two years after your inquiry. I was diagnosed with CRPS/RSD which did not respond to conventional therapy. Then 2.5 years into the condition, saw a neurologist that started me on Lamotrigene (Lamictal). Two months later I am at 100mg per day divided in two doses and it has relieved my limb nerve pain by 80%. Looking to up my dose slightly in the near future to see if it can relieve the other 20%.
Hope this helps. Chris Quote:
