Can one Really Recover from the Horrors of ECT?

I had ECT treatment about a month ago and have suffered severely ever since. I had severe depression and was hospitalized three times before the treatment. And though my mood has lifted, I'm extremely concerned about not only severe memory loss but about the possibility that the treatment may have caused irreversible brain damage as I have noticed daily tasks to be extremely difficult ever since. I guess what I'm wondering is whether my cognitive functions will improve with time or if I'm going to be like this for the rest of my life. Do people who have experience severely crippling effects from ECT ever make a full recovery?

info on ECT treatment

Hey Nevnad84, I have depression due to other medical conditions and take meds and really don't know about ETC treatment so I went to www. theuniverstyhospital.com/etc/effec to read up on it and the memory loss can be permanent to a small degree and will quit after treament are over. Hope this helps some, no matter what there is always hope Best wishes!

I am wondering the same things... and yes, tasks seem so difficult. I hope we can all come up with some solutions...

Thanks.

Hey Kathy Rich again I find if a thread is two months old it's pretty much a waste of time to respond to.

Best to start a new thread!

Keep punching!
