New person here with lots of questions
 

Hello:

I have lots of symtoms, diagnoses and most importantly, lots of questions.

Background: I have 2 cervical fusions at c5-6/c6-7, anterior and posterior. Since Dec 09, I have had 3 EMGs/NCS. They all show the same thing: Carpal Tunnel in both wrists/hands, Ulnar Neurophy in both arms, and peripheral neuropathy in both legs. I have a hard time holding on to anything I twitch so hard at times, my legs go out from under me. Last time it happened, I hit my head a couple of times before I got smart and stayed on the floor. I gave myself a head injury and a seizure disorder to boot!

I take much meds for my neck injury ie Norco and neurotin, or else I fear the symtoms from the above issues would be much more bothersome.

I am just now getting treatment due to many Workers' Comp delays.

As I do much reading on these issues, I can't help but wonder if there is something that is causing all these issues.

Right now the Neurologist I am seeing is treating each diagnosis as separate issues and the Pain Management Dr. is drugging the heck out of me so I don't notice the symtoms without actually treating them.

Yet when I look at possible causes, I cross off 90% right away as I have had 4 thorough blood tests in the past 5 months.

Any thoughts are extremely welcome

Hi welcome to the boards though I am sorry for all you are facing. I am not an expert but there are many on here that I am sure will be along to help. An mri though did come to mind and if you had one? If not I would. Have you seen other specialty doctors? Anything in your life pre all this that you may have not noticed as serious but now could be a connection? Being sick,exposed to something,fall etc? Sorry I am not more help. Hang in there

If all this started with surgery on your neck, then you have something going on there that the surgeon needs to attend to.

You might try posting on our spinal forum too. Someone there might recognize your problem.

Many surgeons will refuse to accept responsibility of
issues post-surgical, saying that they are coincidental
or flatly refuse to address the issue.
You may need to consult with a different neurosurgeon
to try to get a specific (and different) diagnoses to the cause.
