Do any of you have this problem?: bones that stick out

My right UE was the first that was affected by RSD, and I had stopped using it before I was dx because I didn't know what was wrong with it... so, anyways, my shoulder blade on my right side sticks out if my arm is directly in front of me.

My Dr. told me that it is from weakness...

any of you have this problem too? I am going to PT and I have regained some strength in the arm/ hand/ shoulder but it still sticks out.

Just wondering... really, it is the least of my concern at this point in dealing with RSD pain!! But I thought maybe someone else might know. :winky:

Thanks.

as you lose muscle and if you are thin, you will see bone for sure. so sounds like the pt is a good thing for you. and you are right, the pain is the biggest problem but there is no reason to not ask or be concerned about other things. hoping you are having a good day .... it is freeking here in MA today and i am off to go back by the wood stove.

Yeh, I have this as well. I don't know about shoulders because I can't hold my arms out but I have lost almost all the muscles in my palms and between thumbs and fingers and also the muscles from the tips of my fingers and toes (looks very weird). I have a lot of "bony hollows" that "normal" people don't have.... which apparently is from muscle weakness. It's weird. It's also obvious with my hips, knees and feet - apparently it compounds the problem - severe pain and can't move - weaker muscles - therefore less stable joints - therefore more pain etc etc.

bizzare, as my muscle loss worsens so does my spasticity. Does anyone else get it? makes no sense to me.

hope it improves - physio really is the best for it!

My fingers on my right hand are skin and bones. Also my right wrist. Bill use to put his hand around my wrist and talk about how tiny it is. My ring finger and my little finger are nothing but bones compared to my left hand. I asume it is part of the wasteing away with the RSDS.

Both of my anlkle bones stick out horribly. I use to think it was swelling but not now. They look so funny. I have RSD in both of my feet up into ankles I guess. And I am not skinny. Wish I were it might be easier on my feet. I was doing ok weight wise until I went on Lyrica. YIKES.....20 lbs in one month..... then 10 more.

it's the muscle loss (atrophy)- that's were the saying "skin and bones" comes from.

My bones on my foot used to stick out everywhere. It was scary to look at.

Just know that with PT that can improve. My foot looks completely normal now. It's hard to believe it ever looked so bad.

Peace and hope,
Lisa
