There is no way to predict the effectiveness of an anti-depressant, especially after a brain injury. Seroquel is a powerful drugs. Cymbalta appears to be prescribed for a wide variety of symptoms.

My personal experience is that any psychotropic drugs should only be prescribed by a knowledgeable psychiatrist or neuro-psychiatrist. The generic neurologist and especially internists and family practice doctors rarely have enough experience or time to study the real issues with such powerful meds.

Amitriptyline is commonly prescribed for PCS symptoms. It is a tri-cyclic anti-depressant.

As I have said many times before, getting your brain health from a nutrition standpoint should always be a primary part of any treatment. The depression that accompanies PCS is likely enhanced by the toxins left in the brain from the injury.

Depression is in many cases a result of the toxins left in the brain from stressors. A drug only therapy short changes the brain. Why put up with the side effects of anti-depressants if there can be improvements form nutritional therapies.

Do a search on this forum for nutrition or vitamins. There is lots of information posted my me and others. It has been a passion of mine to recommend nutrition since a doctor recommended it to me in 1992. It works wonders but takes a month or two to start to see changes/improvements. Then, after being on a good regimen for some time, falling off the wagon will become quite evident.
