... have (or had) any of the following as symptoms of TOS?

Cog-fog problems, brain fog, memory loss, fuzzy thinking?
Tinnitus and loud sharp noises in the ears?
Dizziness, bordering on vertigo?
Visual disturbances, double vision and 'ghosting'?
Leg problems (sciatic)?
Enlarged or rock solid scalene muscles?

YES! brain fog, memory loss, fuzzy thinking, crunching in the ears..... and rock hard scalene muscles before TOS surgery which removed scalene muscles
and 1st rib.
Sorry you are having these problems some never go away even after surgery.

sorry to report, those symptoms are all too familiar to me. Some was medication related, Neurontin especially. Muscle relaxers is hard to shake sometimes too. Cold water on my face, without toweling off so it can run down my chest would usually jump start my motors in the morning. Cold water can be healthy for the skin too.

but aside from the med related cog-fog problems, yes, I do think the scalenes may interfer with the blood flow, or something along those lines because sometimes it's not as bad.

If my scalenes engage, I get cog-fog probs too.

and it can be a lot of pain too that can cause concentration problems... definitely an unwelcomed intrusion in my life...

I think my quick recall ability is affected and maybe short-term memory.

Scalenes are difficult.

Botox did give me some relief, but be careful who you let do give you botox and don't be a pig... conservative measures is necessary with botox.

A massage therapist told me not to say "My scalenes are killing me" kind of talk. Negative... defeating hopes of recovery...

I didn't really have dizziness but a balance problem. i took vestibular rehab for that. not painful. mostly do on your own, retrain your brain and stabilization tatics, focus tricks... gets into postural exercises.

tinnitus -- mine was C-5 or C6-7-8 cervical issues along with TOS and scalene major involvment. I went through an outpatient ear procedure with the worsening of symptoms. There's definitely a story behind that trip...

I just returned from my eye doctor visit. Hubby drove. Barboursville, WV. about an hour and 30 minutes away. Took hubby to Red Lobster.

New lens script but doing well considering. I have a lot of eye problems to begin with, so there you go.

Leg sciatica, uh, yeah. ugh ! ! !

I have found marvelous relief with LED and infrared light therapy pads. another story to share if you want to know about that.

It won't always be this way.

Pain patterns do change.

We have to make changes take place sometimes, by being informed and educated, things may change for you. Willing to try and follow through with new therapies or techniques or equipment, etc...

I still hold out hope that some day, some way, I will be able to drive where I want, without paying for it later, cog-fog probs and pain.

I have loud Tinnitus all the time. I had it from loud noises when I was younger, but it is louder then ever now. I have brain fog and fuzzy thinking. I am dizzy at times, but only rarely. I also suffer a loss of creativity at times also.
My right leg has sharp apains when I get up from sitting.
Besides TOS, i have been diagnosed with herniated disc in neck, very bad atrophy and artheritis in C-4 and C-5, esp C-4. Frozen shoulders, rotator cuff problems, and CTS along with many othe nerve injuries in both arms.

I'm relieved to see others have some of the same symptoms. It makes me worry about the memory and tinnitis. This is from neurogenic TOs and other injuries.

Thank you all the for replies. It's a tough one as those symptoms can of course be put down to all sorts of illnesses and diseases... but I've ruled out most of the ones I can think of.

Billy - I presume you've had your thyroid properly checked? I have an underactive thyroid which adds to my symptoms and my 'other problem' (whatever it is!) seems to effect the way the meds work for me as I get muscle spasms when increasing etc.

I have a slightly rocking sensation all the time which sometimes becomes very bad and verges on vergito. Never any rhyme or reason to it that I can tell. It just depends how it goes when I wake up each day.

My cogfog is pretty bad and I feel spaced out nearly all the time, worse at certain times though.

The only thing that's helped me so far is aspirin - does that fit with TOS??

well supposedly it thins the blood a bit.. so maybe there is compressions on your vert artery or other arteries and it gets thinned enough to get thru a little better...:confused:

I wondered if maybe it was something like that... when I had heparin shots all my muscles around my neck relaxed beautifully and the large knot in a muscle in my arm also relaxed after years of being solid.

Sadly I also had the side effect of even worse fatigue :rolleyes:

Not sure what my next 'move' should be...

What heparin it is ? Unfractionned ?
