After complete Neuro Eval I don't have RSD!!??

So after muscle biopsy. emg, etc...my neuro said I have small fiber poly neuropathy and that it is not RSD! He can tell that its not RSD by the type of fibers (I cant remember the medical jargon) So my first step is IVIG for 3-6 months to see if that helps....It's hard for me to believe but I am going to for a while......

Weren't you considering this treatment in December? I seem to recall another doctor claimed that you didn't have RSD?????

Yes...your absolutely right..I had an argument with a big wig pain doc in NYC when he was saying I didn't have RSD! But he is why I perused a complete Neuro dx. I hope he is correct and there is a tx that will help! I am so nervous, excited, scared...a flood of emotions..

Deb,

That's great. Your are a strong person, you pushed and hopefully this is the answer you have been waiting for.

How many times I say to myself when reading someones post or even in regards to myself, is it RSD or something else or RSD plus something else. Your an inspiration to us all.

Keep us posted. I just have a feeling this is going to work for you.

The rust is slowly falling off the CRPS brain gears, but I vaguely recall fmichael posting research indicating that small fiber neuropothy can be caused by CRPS. (not that any of us need two miserable conditions!) I only mention this because at one point my neurologist suspected neuropathy caused by CRPS. He indicated that it is not uncommon to have both conditions.

Interestingly, the IVIG treatment being considered by the neurologist has been used for intractable CRPS.

Does IVIG for small fiber neuropathy offer hope for a cure?

Hi

Yes, I did question him that RSD does come with small fiber Nurop...but he explained it would be a different type of small fiber...I forgot his exact words. He only said the IVIG is the place to start and that it is definably not RSD (Which I am still having a hard time processing)
