emg question :(
I'm not trying to make something out of nothing but i got my emg "report" not the actual numbers and everything came back normal but i read this:
"sensory latencies bilaterally normal. some of her motor amps were reduced but not in a consistent pattern. rt median motor amp and rt ulnar motor amp reduced but left sided results unremarkable." they told me on the phone the results were normal. but its weird to me, my rt side i cant put any weight on wrist (havent been able to for a YEAR) and also my extra dead shoulder/arm. but maybe its normal for some people to experience a reduction and all of that is a coincidence. hrmm. and/or maybe the reduction is small. |
EMG really only tests the major nerves - median, radial.
For most of us it is used mainly to rule out major nerve problems. Ours are more often the sensory nerves that get affected. What happens when you do put weight on your rt wrist? extreme pain? collapses? numbness? I would get sharp crampy pains & & constant pulling feeling in my left wrist , turned out it was stemming from the tension all up my arm, neck & shoulders. I also had a feeling like a tight bracelet or watch was on my wrist all the time early on during my wc injury. Finally PT & also had chiro about the same time frame, treated the tension higher up and the wrist sx resolved. Chiro also did a few adjustments/traction type tx on the wrist at times. |
this might be an ehlers danlos thing
it feels sprained. a chiro and pts have looked at it. i know that cramping feeling, i get it in my left hand...not this side though. side note i was forced to lift 15 lbs today. i should tell people i cant lift things...owiheaotwiehyowei but i know theyre thinking im being lazy. so annoying |

interpetation of the DR too but fully agree with JO-MAR most of us have sensory nerve problems. I also have ulner nerve problems that took a specialist at Baylor Medical center to find even though i had positive Tinels sign for years. Some days symptoms are very obvious to me other days i just have numbness "IT IS WHAT IT IS" Best wishes to you |
thanks
i wish i could just have the actual report..if i werent so lazy id go back and get it. i dont trust docs anymore, not even to read a stupid machine. its sad. |
