I guess I dont have to decide if I want a Galaxy Tab or an iPad. My dad made the decision for me. :D He just sent me an email that he forwarded from Apple telling him when his order was going to get here.

I'm getting a white iPad 2 (64gb, Wifi only) on the 25th. (my b-day is the 24th of this month) :D

Now I just have to decide what cover to buy for my iPad.

I do wonder if I should have asked for a new Tivo instead. My Tivo died tonight. Just about killed myself tonight trying to get the tivo and the old cable box out of my bookcase so I could put a cable DVR into the bookcase. (stole the DVR from my dad's bedroom. He wasnt using it anyways) After seeing the HD on my tv for the first time since I got the tv, makes me thing nope...I dont want another Tivo. (my Tivo didnt get HD signals, so I'd never seen the HD on my HD tv.)

Laura has the 1st gen. Didn't need to upgrade just for the slimmer/camera/faster. She doesn't do games that require speed, we have iPhone 4's so we can video chat (FaceTime) and thin, it's thin enough.

The FaceTime or Skype making video phone calls is the COOLEST!.

I actually would have been happy with an iPad 1. The Target down the street from my house had 9 or 10 of them left several weeks ago that were 64gb, wifi only versions for $599. I almost got one of those then, but wasnt seriously looking at the iPad yet, because I was waiting for the wifi version of the Galaxy Tab to come out.

My dad said he got me the iPad because he'd read a few reviews of the wifi Galaxy Tab that didnt impress him as much as the iPad did. The reason I was looking at the Galaxy Tab was because it's nearly the same size as my Kindle, and I think I would have liked the size of it. I'm a little nervous about getting the iPad now because of the size, and I'm not sure about holding one while having fumbly MS fingers. I really need the best iPad protective cover that I can find.

I guess now I have the excitement of waiting for my iPad to ship, and then watching the tracking info and waiting for the iPad to show up at my door, and going shopping for a fancypants cover for it. I want to find the cover before the iPad gets here so the iPad wont end up being naked. I keep my Kindles in fancy protective covers, and think that a cover for the iPad is a must have to protect something like that.

I cant wait to start downloading apps. First one I'm putting on there, if it's not already on there when I turn it on, will be the Kindle app. Not sure I'm going to do much Kindle reading on the iPad tho. I'm not going to abandon my Kindle for the iPad. (I like to read outside during the day sometimes when it's nice. Wont be able to use the iPad for that)

Now I am jealous!

Went to Best Buy to look at covers. (Apple Store looked too crowded and it's in an outdoor mall, and the handicap spots are too far from the store. I was feeling lazy today, plus my mom has a cold and asthma and I didnt want to make her walk that distance)

Only cover I liked at Best Buy was for an iPad1, but the Geek said that they make them in that same style for the iPad2, but they were out. So, I'm going to have to go to a different Best Buy probably to get the cover...unless I find a nice one from the company that makes the covers that I use on my Kindle. Kind of want one where the iPad slips into the cover, and then the cover folds over the opening that the iPad goes into...so it wont slide out. My dad's Kindle slid out of a cover once, so I'm picky about what kinds of covers I put my electronics into now.

I have till the 25th to find a cover, so at least I can have fun shopping for that.

At least at Best Buy, my dad was able to get a look at the iPad2, and we decided he did buy the right color. (white) My dad really likes the feel of the iPad. I get the feeling he's going to kidnap it from me when it gets here. He was really having fun playing with the floor models that the store had.

OK! I won't pretend to even understand what you said in your original thread but it does sound exciting. I know PC's pretty well but that's about it. I have a Tracfone as a cell my wife bought me and I've called out and received about 10 calls in 4 years. Either way, whatever you said sounds like a good thing for you.

I was talking with some online friends who have the iPad 2 already. Some of them told me that they got their iPads sooner than the 2wk estimate that they got for theirs. Hopefully mine comes sooner too.

I really need to find myself a cover, or I'm going to be terrified of taking it out of the box when I have MS fingers. (numb, tingly and everything feels slippery in my hands) I cant wait till we get the email telling us when it ships. Hope that comes soon.

Oh so close! I went to the NRA banquet dinner last night and they have prizes up on the wall. you buy tickets and place them in the buckets in front of the prizes. I put in half for the IPAD and half for the Kindle. I missed the Kindle by ONE number, and the IPAD by three. Darn! I thought of you. :hug:
