I mopped the kitchen

No, really! You didn't read that wrong!

For maybe two weeks (at least) I sat here at the desk and could see that it was actually DUSTY under the kitchen table, that's how long it's been. But I didn't care enough to use up all my spoons on it.

But this morning I pulled out the chairs, wiped off their little feet, parked them in the living room, dragged the table away from the wall and wet-swiffered the floor. The WHOLE floor! Moved the cat dishes and everything!! And moved it all back!!

Many of you know what a big deal that truly is.

Yes, it's a really, really big deal! Good for you.

If I plan to do these chores.....write it down and put it on my "to do" list it'll never get done. I find that I tackle these jobs out of the blue. I'll be doing something completely different and decide to clean the bathroom, change the bed sheets, or mop the floors.......and then I just do it. But if I specifically plan to do it.....it won't happen!

Yup. That is a big deal. Many people don't understand just how many spoons that takes. DH2B doesn't quite get it when I brag about doing chores. There are days and sometimes weeks when I don't have the energy to get them done. But when I do I am so proud of it.

Then of course he and DD come home and I realize that energy was wasted and it was all for nothing because no matter how hard I try to keep this house clean, I am out numbered by both people and dogs. They can destroy a full days worth of work in a matter of minutes.

You see, this is why I like the fish. He is a pretty little betta. He has 2 bowls. The most work I have to do for him is switch him out every week or so and clean the bowl. He even dances around when he is hungry. He doesn't shed, or bark, or pee on my floor, or leave muddy footprints and shoes on my floor.

Gosh, Legzz.......I wonder if I could marry a fish? :p He sounds perfect!

Awesome B2Y! I'll bet you feel great after accomplishing that task.

So much around my house gets left undone. I just wait until I have the energy to do it. I try to take care of the bigger things like dusting and keeping everything neat. It helps. Since it is just DBF and I it really doesn't get that messy but . . . the kitchen floor,, my heck that gets dirty. DBF works in the auto industry and is always bringing dirt and grime in on his shoes. I have to Swiffer Wet Jet them twice - if I have the energy. I wash them once and then change the pad and do it again. Lately, I have not been doing that and am down to doing it once a week. I am sure if I did it more often I wouldn't have to wash them twice changing pads in between.

Anyhow, I am so glad you accomplished this task. Now you can kick back, relax, admire your work, and know that you accomplished this huge task today.:hug:

I'm exactly the same way, kitty.

If I have company coming, instead of tidying up the house, etc., alluvasudden I have an interest in a project that is completely unrelated to what I really need to be doing!

Right now I need to take care of my 2 cases of fresh strawberries (making freezer jam), then get ready to travel to a family reunion (of sorts). Why am I lingering at the computer? *sigh*

I have a procrasinating problem with cleaning too, my floors could use a good mopping...and more...

SallyC 05-06-2011 02:08 PM

Well, I cleaned my Bathroom floor and am vewwy tired. I try to dry swiffer all my floors every couple of days to keep them from getting too dirty and clean spills as they happen. I waited too long this time in the bathroom, making it a big job..ugh!!!

It's nap time now...nighty-nite..:grouphug:

That's exactly what happens here. If I wait too long, it makes it a biggerr and tougher job. I try to keep up on things but it is hard. I try to break things up by the day. . . do 1 room a day. The bathrooms I combine in to the same day. But still, sometimes I start the cleaning job and end up too tired to finish it or push myself to get it done and then pay for it later or the next day. I am lucky that DBF is understanding.
