posture bras

do any of you winged scapular folks use a bra as like a brace? has it helped at all?

i have an actual posture brace but it presses on my left trap and causes my neck to freak out, it's too restrictive for me now.

kinesiotape works great. i just have difficulty taping myself.

im trying to find a bra that'll keep me from slouching and keeping my shoulders locked under control. it seems that all of these bras are made for larger ladies. i'm just an A CUP

just throwing out ideas.

theres links to some at the bottom, just not my size.

Yeah, i know what you mean. You can only do so much, yourself.

I could do a lot of taping but not the scapulas. I would have to get someone to do that, usually hubby or therapist. I wore it a long time when i had it on because it was so hard to get it back on. I guess i would cut the middle out and lay back on it a pull from center to the left and center to the right. I guess i would have to use a ball or something to push the center into the spinal column. I think i could do it. Might try it just to see if i can.

Strengthening the scapulas by rolling up a towel and placing in longways, up and down spine, while lying flat on a bed or floor and doing some arm exercises helped me gain a lot of strength. Would describe in better deatil if you want. That's been a while back. It opened up the pecs too.

Bras, well, they seem to trigger muscle spasms. Ugh ! ! ! Being an a cup, i kind would worry too much. Maybe soft sportsbras might do the trick.

did you ever try resistance bands? did they irritate you?
i can't use them AT ALL. and my neck is getting more and more tired and spasmy. i need some relief. im thinkign stabilization of scaps somehow and botox injections in scalenes.

id love to hear about those exercises. im going to pt today and telling her ill try some stabilization/strengthening as long as it doesnt involve any weights or bands yet. my back looks like im in a 3rd world country, no joke.

i dont even own a sports bra but that's a good idea.

Your therapist will probably show you or at least know what I'm trying to tell you. the towel in longways, up and down your spine. you would start with your arms outstretched on the bed and start bringing them up to center, trying to imagine you're touching the ceiling. then slowly let them down. repeat as many times as you can. I also got up to using a small towel, end in each hand, and while lying my back on roll, on the bed, I would move my arms to the left, center, right and then back while holding the ends of the towel.

also my therapist was doing cranial myofascial release and that would include ear pulls, which helped a lot. then she would try to do some scalene work. they were very sensitive. then cervical and shoulders, arms, hands, wrists, back, leg. She was very busy wit me. I wore my therapist out with so many areas. Wore their thumbs out too. My therapist would have Kinesio tape on after doing so much therapy on me. She believes in the tape too.

The bands, I did do, but you're right, my scalenes would fuss up and spas.

Be careful with too much botox. There are no quick fixes with our problems.

I did meet a massage therapist almost a year ago who has designed the Julstro Company. She certainly knows her stuff. I'm doing much better now and can't hardly justify the 250 or 300 to get the program. I probably should, as I could get some benefit from it, I'm sure. Just the knowledge is probably worth that.

Here's the link. I actually meant to put it on the board for everyone to review.

Keep in touch. I can do pics if you need them, of the Kinesio taping or towell roll.

thanks! i started isometrics, i imagine ill move to something like towel roll next.

my pt said the same thing re: botox. in fact it might make me worse. i thought getting botox would mean less spasms and then the muscle would lengthen?? lol, maybe not.

right now i am wearing a neck brace..it really helps bc my neck is so tired.

the inside ear pulls sound really really good actually.

Here is another new thread w/ pics showing a foam roll technique - You can even start flat on the floor is pain is bad, then move up to rolling a towel to use as the roll and then if you want move up to ball or foam roll.

I started out on the floor (per Sharon Butler's TOS program) Like the yoga corpse pose. Then saw the rolled towel idea so moved up to it, then an advanced PT told me about the foam roll use, so got one of those.
I adapted the exercise ball as a change up.

oops almost forgot the thread link-
