Trying to save New Orleans by letting the small towns flood
Bizi,
Lots and lots of hugs.   That's a lot of emotional strain for the people in the Missippi River Basin. Stay safe. Keep taking care of yourself. 1. Here is is a video from someone from Vicksburg Mississippi: 2011 Flood of Vicksburg, Mississippi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHKeFXLNFkk Those pictures were taken several days ago maybe a week ago. The water is higher now. 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqbiJy4L0L4&NR=1 Flooding 2011 at Greenville, MS River Bridge- Looking South This guy is narrating and explaining about the large volume of water -- pictures taken almost a week ago. WOW, I have been watching for days just waiting for the river to crawl back where it came from. Thanks for the links.
I remeber some years ago how wide and all the flooding. Wondered how the families, farms were able to recoup. Just saw the gates open for the control flooding and can not believe the power. |
Bizi,
The slow moving water might mean that the flooding will not be as bad as anticipated: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/17/us/17floods.html Slow Pace of Flooding Might Lower Its Crest Quote:

Doesn't the federal gov't help tornado victims who live on the flat-land hot spots, and are well aware of the risks?
Thanks for the info. Very interesting. I hope the damage is as little as possible. These poor people... they will be in my prayers. |
