tramadol, elavil, steroid, need your advice

i went to my doc cause i just cant do this anymore without help.
she prescribed eleavil, tramodol and 40mg steroid for a week.

steroid she said lets see if its inflamtion then lets see if it helps.
what do you guys think. if i have inflamatory or autoimmune neuropathy or anything autoimmune would the steoid help.

i have always had elevated sed rate. elevated ige, iga, igg. other markers of inflamation like crp..are normal.

has tramadol helped anyone.

plus she is going to order the blood test from athena for neuropathy.

Some doctors do this...with steroids.

I think you should ask if this doctor intends to taper you off.
A week, may be okay, but for inflammatory things, a cold turkey ending during an inflammatory event, will really hurt.

Some doctors use a Medrol dospak as a tester. If you have arthritis or allergies, you feel really good for about 3 days, and as you taper off, then it all can come roaring back. But this does reveal a process if you have one, that is inflammation based.

Tramadol works for me, but I don't take it all the time. I save it for really bad nights. I only use 50mg, once a day that way.
I can go quite a while before needing more.
I have increased my Aleve to two at night, because my left ankle has been swelling. I have arthritis and gout which complicate things.

I haven't requested Elavil yet, since my pain is not severe or constant. But I did take doxepin (another TCA) many years ago for sciatica and that worked well.

I didn't pick up the steroid I will ask the pharmacy if it's tapering or not. I know she said it's 40 mg.

She gave me 50 mg of tramadol. Does tramadol work on neuropathy or more of aches and pains.
I am hoping to find a combo that's safe and not severe.

I need something to break the pain cycle. But the fire and all symptoms all over at the same time makes it so difficult.

I do havebllergies and off and on sinus stuff so possible autoimmune stuff maybe causing this.

I always rejected the steroid but might give it a try. Hoping it Dosent aggravate things.

I have noticed when the internal buzzing and vibrating starts that's nmindictor that bad days are coming. But when Thats not there it all comes down.
I don't know why it's always worse when I am laying down. But it's there when sitting and if I move it tops for a minute. I can induce it too my stretching. Jut strange.
This is a real good general physician I found. She sits with me for an hour!!

Anyways fingers crossed for this combo.

Hi I don't know this for sure but tramadol I was told by my pain doctor that long term it would not help for relief cause my brain would become more sensitive to pain and I would keep needing more. For me though tramadol did not help even short term. Everyone is different. I also tried elavil at night which is supposed to help with pain and sleep. Elavil though my doctors seemed ok with long term. I hope you find relief

Hi is that 40mg steroids a day for a week? seems a very low weekly dose if its 40 for the week.

I have been helped tremendously by the meds combination 'cocktail' of Neurontin (at first) and later Lyrica along with Tramadol (Ultram). I have been takinmg the cocktails for more than 8 years and have reduced the Tramadol dosage from 400 mgs (100mgs 4x/day) to 300mgs/day in equal divided dosages.
I consider the Tramadol to be a great help in pain reduction from my PN symptoms.
Long term over the years has not given me any problems other than I believe I've developed a dependency on both my Tramadol and/or Lyrica. At age 67, that's the least of my concerns.
