I'm a Newbie

Hi Guys,

I guess i accidentally left a post on an old thread, so here's a better introduction.

I was Diagnosed with MS on my 25th Birthday (happy birthday to me!). Pursuing the path to treatment I waited 6 months for another MRI and another three to see a Neurologist. At that time the MS Diagnosis was retracted and I was told I had idiopathic Transverse Myelitis. Nerve damage was located in my C-Spine between C3 and C7.

That was probably the worse consultation I've ever had with a neurologist, not only did he refused to educate me regarding the condition he told me I'd just "get better". I wasn't looking for drugs, who wants those? I forced him to scribble the condition down so I could look into it on my own.

that was three years ago, I looked into the condition, took mental notes on what to look out for and proceeded on with my life.

A full year later the Migraines and constant fatigue started. I was calling into work sick, I couldn't get out of bed and was sleeping 10-16 hours / day when I could. The Tingling sensations became more permanent and the so called "attacks" happened 2 - 3 times / day lasting about 5-10 mins which basically paralyzed my right arm.

it was at that point I sought medical attention. It took me another 8 months to finally get forwarded to the MS Clinic at Foothills Industrial hospital. she gave me amatriplyne for pain and pegbalin(i think) for the bladder problems then sent me for an MRI.

I saw her again two months later after the MRI. She switched my medication (it was causing me to fall asleep behind the wheel, and be late for work) told me that there was a new spot that was on C1 (but it was most likely miss on the other MRI and was nothing to worry about) and that my brain was clear. Two weeks later I got Fired for lateness (not sure they can do that if you've been with a company for three years with a good record and are aware that you are being treated for a medical condition but they did).

We packed up and moved to Vancouver after a year and a half of waiting I was finally seen at the UBC MS Clinic last Thursday. It was really good timing, I've been experiencing a series of paralyzing numbness on my right side again. this time it covers my arm, my face (all right side), the arm is Dangling feels heavy and twitches.

when I spoke to the Neurologist i finally got a Brutally Honest answer. The spot on C1 was in fact a new lesion, there actually was a spot on my brain and at this point it's most likely MS but in very early stages. She confirmed that I definitely have an Inflammatory disease and I'm going for another MRI in three to four months to confirm (god dammed the waits are sooo long) I then have to see her for the results.

I've been preparing for this to come so I'm not shaken up or anything regarding the diagnosis. I'm just searching for answers.

Has anyone else experienced similar circumstances regarding horrendous wait times? thoughts?
