Betaseron

I have been on Betaseron for a little over a year now and it still burns in some spots and most times it travles up the arm and down part of my back and down the leg. Is this normal?

Hi Sue

I did Beta for eight years, and all through the treatments I got burning, pain, site reactions, flu symptoms, and so on. Not every time, but more than enough to make it unbearable over time.

Have you got a nurse educator, neuro or drug rep that you can talk to?

It worked beautifully for me, but I couldn't stand it any longer and had to change to something else (Tysabri).

Thinking of you

I have taken Betaseron since 2002. The injection site reactions have not gotten any better over time and I have bruises where I did shots 6 months ago!
I can not do my arms at all. It hurts like he**!
Sometimes I do a "bad" shot and the site gets all hard and sore.
Do you use an injector? I find that to be a bit more consistant. However; the drug has worked pretty well for me and I don't feel "sick" after taking it.

I would like to try something else just to help my skin out!
I find that massaging the injection site using an ice pack helps reduce the severity of the reaction.
You need to get in contact with a Beta Nurse and go over some of your concerns. There number is 1-800-788-1467 and are available 24/7. They hear it all from the patients they serve and can have some really good insight. They can get you an injector also.
