Graham crackers
I just threw out a s'more, something that is pretty much sacrilege to a chocolate lover.
The graham cracker was NASTY! It tasted like old rotting cardboard, and what's worse, it smelled like rotting cardboard too once I got the marshmallow and Hershey bar on it. It was store brand, and fairly fresh graham crackers. What is the deal with graham crackers? I cant find any anywhere that dont taste like something that came out of a landfill! They're either too crumbly and wont support putting a piece of chocolate and a giant marshmallow on them, or they have a horrible smell to them. It doesnt matter if they're name-brand or store brand graham crackers. They're all icky! I talked to my aunt about it tonight, because we're both huge fans of s'mores, and she said she'd noticed it too...that graham crackers no longer taste good. Like when I was little and they were so good they were like cookies. (tasted good with fruit punch Hi-C) Are my aunt and I the only ones who've noticed that the quality of graham crackers has gone down?? All I want is a decent s'more and I cant find a decent graham cracker that doesnt taste like it's made out of particle board. |
Try a health/natural food store

I love the gingerbread grahm crackers in winter dunked in hot cocoa. YUM!

Yep, they went downhill when they removed the trans-fats from the ingredients. Whatever it was they substituted does not make the crackers tasty. They are more crumbly and do not hold together well when making pie crusts either.

New Morning Cinnamon Graham Crackers are really good. You have to get used to the healthier versions taste. The cinnamon helps - it adds more flavor. Try eating them plain.....just by themselves or with cold milk. After a while you'll get used to it.

I knew it had something to do with the trans-fats.
Leave my trans-fats alone! You're ruining my s'mores!!!!! The whole point of a s'more is that they're supposed to be tasty and bad for you if you eat too many. (just dont eat too many!!) Leave the trans-fat alone so I can have a decent s'more every once in awhile. They can make the nasty graham crackers for people who dont want the trans-fats, but they can keep making the good tasty ones for the people like me who are big fans of s'mores. Why they had to screw around with the recipes for the graham crackers I dont understand. I think I'm recovered from the few bites I had of that s'more last night. Those graham crackers were really rancid. I dont even think rats would eat them, they were that bad! I think I'm going to go to Trader Joe's and see if they have any graham crackers and if they taste any better...altho, I wonder if they'll have any trans-fats in theirs. |
