WEN shampoo?? anyone use this?
I saw an ad for WEN shampoo. Well, to be fair, its considered a cleansing conditioner. no detergents in it. all natrual ingredients, and very conditioning for your hair. I get little pimple things on my head when I use shampoo with sulfates in them, and now even tho they are becoming more popular, I find many harsh detergents in them. I saw this WEN stuff and its all stuff from the garden that is used, and it made me wonder.
Anyone ever use it? Hear of it? reccomend it? |
They sell it on QVC and it is expensive!!
I've never tried it but if you're thinking about it read the directions before you buy it. It's a very involved process and you have to spend quite a bit of time with it. I cannot imagine going through that routine just to wash my hair. They explain it in the link below: http://www.qvc.com/WEN-byChaz-Dean-L...N-_-2-_-A86718 |
ok, ya got my dander up with this WEN stuff
Kitty, couldn't get your link to work but did go to QVC and there were a bunch of WEN products so.... looked at reviews...couldn't find a negative one other than the price, so checked out the product / maker's website & found it quite interesting. http://www.wenhaircare.com/ Buy it Dejibo!!!! be our guinea pig!!! yeah!!!!! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5.../BABY_M215.gif |
I did buy it, and it came yesterday! I cant believe after ONE shampoo my hair was thick, bouncy and so much more healthy feeling. INCREDIBLE!
only thing is...the price. I am going to have to find a way to get this stuff cheaper. I got a special bargain deal with a two for one and free shipping as a trial of their product. I got sweet almond mint (for all hair types) and pomagranite (for all hair types) I think I would like to try the lavender since I have a curly head of hair right now from the perm. yes ladies, I got myself a birthday perm! its wonderful, easy and since I am no longer on copaxone, it stuck! everytime I tried one while on C or B my perm fell flat or fell out. anyway, if you have the money I say try it! OMG my hair is luxurious and soft and bouncy! mebbie I will take a photo! |
Try ebay. You might get it cheaper there.
I'm glad you liked it. I wish I could afford it but my hair is past my shoulders and I'd probably use a container a week of the stuff! |
I hear Sally beauty supply (didnt know Sal had her own stores) sells a generic version of this. Will have to compare ingredients and see how they stack up.
The sweet almond mint has a strong mint smell to it. its not my fav. The Pomagranite has a smell like childrens cough syrup. im not thrilled with it either. Perhaps the lavender will smell better. I am not a perfume kina gal, and I would think for a "all natural" product they would think more about the aroma therapy as well, and not just the junk in it. I just washed the bug spray off me from my 2 mile walk and all the sweat, so lets see what day 2 brings! |
Some of the reviews I've read said the Mint fragrance had a medicinal smell to it...almost like Vicks. Most reviews agreed that the Lavender smelled the best and gave the most body and volume.
I looked on ebay and there is alot of it for sale. There is a new fragrance....Cucumber Aloe......that might be more subtle of a fragrance than the others. And the aloe would be good for dry hair, too. |
Wen, and the Sally generic are loaded with silicones, which coat the hair and can cause build up and brittleness over time. You might want to google "no poo" if you want to give up shampoo. I haven't "poo'd" since January and my teen daughter hasn't since March. We just use $1.38 for almost a liter of Suave Naturals conditioner as our cleanser with great results. My daughter even uses a bit extra as a leave-in (she has thick, VERY curly hair).

WEN is way, way out of my price range. Vinegar and baking soda is more in my price range.:D
Do you have long hair? Like Kelly, I have long hair past the bottom of my bra line. I need to use a little more shampoo than those with shorter hair. Many times, I only wash my scalp as my hair tends to be on the dry side and then condition all of my hair. I also have thin hair but have lots of it. It damages easily. I use Dove shampoo. I am semi-gluten free and apparently Dove does not contain any gluten as other shampoos and soaps do. I love it and it does make my hair soft and manageable. However, now that it's summer, my hair is even drier. I may try some of the recipes from Kelly's link. I do use olive oil as a deep conditioning every so often, once a month or so (I also use olive oil with sugar as a good face scrub - leaves your skin so nice and soft and smooth). But maybe I can incorporate it in to the vinegar rinse. Good golly, I'll come out of the shower smelling like salad dressing!:D:D I'm glad you found something that works well for your hair! It is so nice when we do. Keep us updated on how it works over time. Maybe if I hit the lottery, I can get some to try. |
