FYI: Concerns raised over sleeping pills' side effects
Stilnox and Immovane
Stilnox is Ambien. I remember someone having really bad effects from Ambien here at NeuroTalk. Quote:
________________________________ I think Immovane, as they've got it in the article, is supposed to be Imovane, but I'm not 100% sure. I've never heard of it before. I noticed that they said a number of the adverse effects happened when the sleeping medications were taken with alcohol. They just had this on our news here and they interviewed people who had adverse effects and some of the things they'd done were very disturbing. They mentioned someone taking one of these medications on an aeroplane and arriving at their destination in handcuffs. Please don't drink alcohol when you're taking any meds.. This is very frightening stuff. I know not all the people with adverse effects drank alcohol with them though, so it will be good to hear more information about these drugs when it's available. |
Thanks, Lara.
Yes, Ambien and Lunesta (less so far) have been implicated in
amnesiac behavior. There was last year a teen in Idaho who killed her parents, and had Ambien as part of her defense. (it didn't work, and she was convicted). And one does not need alcohol for these effects either. There have been reports of amnesiac eating in the night also from Ambien. Pretty weird and scary stuff! |
I know Ambien had me doing strange things, and one of them was getting up to eat.
I'd wake up on the couch with food spilled all over me and having no recollection of doing it! My main reason, however, for stopping it was because it also made me sweat profusely. I thought it was menopause or one of the other meds, but I quit taking it to test it out, and sure enough I didn't sweat. Started taking it again, and started sweating. I definitely would not drink with that stuff. There just is no walking around and functioning after taking that stuff! I can't imagine someone going out and driving! |
