Looks Like I need to make an appt with pain doc again

I think I have to go back to my pain doc again because I am having some issues. I had my last revision done in November and they put in the paddle leads, I was really happy because I was able to walk and the pain was a bit better. Within the last month or so though I started noticing problems again, my legs are going numb like off and on before (mostly if I am sitting doing school work or if I am sitting on the floor playing with the dog) and now I can't even sleep because every time I lay down they start burning again :( I tried turning it up but then when my stim is too high it makes me have trouble sleeping. I have had it reprogrammed twice because it kept going into my abdomen again and that helped a bit but this pain is starting to go over my stimulation coverage and I am worried that I should talk to my doctor about it. I haven't seen him since my recovery appt last year and I was really hoping I would not have to see him at all. Does anyone else have these types of problems after the stim has been a long time? This is so frustrating and has been a very bad week for me for many reasons :( Take care

stinging/burning sensation from SCS

Hi Tchr,
Yes I can relate to some of what you are saying and I only had some day surgery for it last Friday to try and ease the situation. I had my SCS fitted last December for left side back and legs pain. The leg pain is working fine but the back wasn't.

Everytime I went to turn up the stim for my back it would give me an awful stinging burning sensation. I basically gave up on the back working at all. I tried to change things with the technician but she couldn't do anything. In the meantime I felt as if i was going downhill again, my pain was returning and I wasn't feeling any benefit at all from the SCS. I went back to my Consultant and he decided on some revision surgery and so far so good, it's only been a few days but the stim is up higher than t's ever been and no stinging.
Hopefully it will continue to work for me.

I do definitely suggest you go see your consultant and let him know the problems you are having and see what he/she says, there's no harm trying.

Best of luck,

Sinéad :)

Might not be the stim...

I finally heard back from my doctor about the ct scan and they found out I have kidney stones and another mass in my kidney and another cyst (I think). So, the good news is that the pain is probably from those issues since its been in my back and also now in the side. The bad news is that it is large and I have trouble passing them actually I have had to have them removed 3 times by surgery. I know that they can do lithotripsy but that is not an option since I have a stim now! I have to go see my Uro tomorrow to find out what we are going to need to do. I havent been on here very much because I am in alot of pain and very sick to my stomach I also don't have much energy! I am going to get this taken care of first before I talk to the stim doc again, its really hard when you have many different health problems and they make each other worse :( I will be back when I can. Take care and hope you all have a great weekend!
:hug:Sophie, I am sorry you are having pain still and I hope it gets better for you as things heal. Good luck and I hope things get better for you soon!

I meant to ask....

Hi Tara,
I meant to ask how your Mum is doing?

Sinead

Tara and Sinead

Prayers that the pain however caused is handled by the processes employed to address the issues. I ache for you Tara as you have struggled so much with urological issues and yet have more with which to deal. Yet I pray for you all that the attempts to bring healing indeed foster leaps in the right direction for wellness, less pain, stones that dissolve and pass without need for physical intervention.

Rest and save your strength,
Praying,
