Too much pain
:(This should probably be in the spms forum, but I'm afraid it won't be seen. I'm wondering why after all this time being here, that I don't seem to see anyone else suffering with so much pain 24/7? If Dr. Kevorkian was still alive and doing his thing, I swear I'd pay him a visit. It just seems like the pain continues to worsen every day. For the past week I've had a neuralgia type pain shooting in my left ear, down my neck and shoulder every ten seconds or so....it reminds me of fingernails on a blackboard. There is no joy left in living........sorry to be such a downer, but there you have it. With no hope of improvement for the rest of my life, why continue? This isn't living, it's torture.

 Judy  I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. I'm sure you've talked to your doctor about it. What is he/she doing to alleviate it for you? What have you tried? Pain is so exhausting, I know, and makes us feel desperate for relief sometimes. You're in my prayers, Judy, and I hope you get some pain-free hours tonight.

Awwww Judy, darn it anyway. I'm so sorry.:(
You'd think that your Docs or pain clinic or someone would find something for your pain, by now.. Or do they think you're an addict, looking for a fix.. Have you tried all the usual Meds like Lyrika and such? Have you been to a pain clinic Doc? Don't let them sluff you off. There must be something out there to help you. I think our scientists are working on the wrong things, if they can't even come up with a nerve pain reliever.. Please feel better, I hate when you're hurting. Extra prayers for you today. |

I have posted about the pain before, but like any other MS symptoms, pain's very different in each person, and the 'remedies' to help ease pain are just as unique from person to person. Sorry to hear yours is worsening. :( I'll be blunt. I went to a pain doctor and got marijuana prescribed (pill form THC - Cesamet) and it has been the wonder drug for my cranial neuralgia. I had to see a pain specialist for the medication, but I do believe that GPs can prescribe Marinol/Cesamet (Nabilone) so it's worth inquiring about if you've not given that route a try. Wishing for pain free days ahead for you  |

How are you today, Judy?
For me, pain always seems worse.....or seems to get worse.....at night. Don't know if that's just me or if it's true for others, too. If you haven't already done so I'd consider taking Laura's advice and speak to my doctor about the Cesamet. I hope today is a better day for you. |
i know what it's like to be in 24/7 pain. and i've come close to feeling like you do.
i walked into my local rehab hosp one day and asked if they had any pain drs. they said yes so i got a referral from my neuro. he was so nice. he believed me too. he rx'd some different meds until one worked better than the others. it is a narcotic but i don't abuse it so it works when i need it to. i also did some different PT things. don't give up. i know how pain saps your energy and then you have trouble sleeping which doesn't help. keep demanding help from your neuro and/or pcp. treating pain is a standard of care. they have to respond. i'm so rooting for you. keep in touch with us. |
I don't know what it's like to have nerve pain like you are experiencing, but I'm praying :smileypray: for you and hoping you feel better soon.

So sorry you're suffering so...I have leg pain that sometimes drives me to think it's time to take a trip down the stairs...literally. But I know I'd be the one who lives through it and would end up paralyzed...
I do find that cannabis helps reduce the pain levels, but I hate using it. So I only use it when it's intolerable. Try to get some relief, be it narcotics or cannabis...but don't put up with it, whatever you do. It will take you down emotionally, and it's bad enough to be taken down by the pain physically... Keep us up to date...:hug: |
