Tissue reaction
 

Im still having issues with facial tightness and breathing free through my nose.The oral surgeon saw tissue reaction on the tooth he extracted. This tissue was against my left sinus. He said that shouldnt be the problem. The tissue is still there, would that cause any problems?:(

Anytime a piece of foreign matter is located in an area that it's not meant to be in, problems can occur. From your one post, your description sounded like the tooth had a cyst that had formed above or around it and this cyst was not removed. It is typical for a root canaled tooth to form a cyst above or around it because it is the result of the bacteria proliferating past the end/root of the tooth. These cysts should always be removed during the extraction as it is a bacteria filled matter that feeds off of the blood supply.

Without seeing the pre op xray, I cannot tell you for certain if the "tissue" you speak of is a cyst. But is sure does sound like it could be.

Have you had a post operative visit with the oral surgeon since the extraction? If not, then it would be a good idea to schedule one and discuss the possibility of this "cyst" and how it could be blocking your sinus.

He first said he thougth it was a polyp.After surgery I asked him several times about that and he said it was "reactive tissue" and he couldnt tell me if it was there before or after the root canal. He said that my sinuses looked clear(according to the 3d scan) and that the tissue shouldnt be a problem. I am so frustrated and suffer every day. I thought it might be an oral fistula but I read that if you drink something it would come out of my nose and that doesnt happen. I will be going to another neurologist to see what she says.
