Im new here!! any help?
Hi everyone. im glad i found this website!! :) So Since I got pregnant ( my son is now two ) I get these flair ups that last up to two weeks at a time. I get this burning stinging pain mostly in my left thigh, that goes from the outter thigh to sometimes pain down the front of my thigh. It will come and go as well. Ive had this pain for about 8 days now, and yesterday it went completely away and now today its back again but in both legs. I do have an apointment with a neurologist next week. I have a weird phobia of blood clots, and have had five negative ultrasounds on my legs in the past two years. mainly last year. Does anyone else experience this? ive been diagnosed by a regular dr with Meralgia paresthetica, so I was curious if anyone else has had this? and if the pain for them has lasted more than a few days. what can i do in the mean time, and should i worry about a blood clot if ive had testing for it in the past?

I had this after my pregnancy and C-section surgery. It was only on one leg.
I found that heat will aggravate it tremendously, so hot tubs, heating pads, etc should be avoided. Try putting an ice pack on your back twice a day for 20 min each and see if that helps. I finally used Lidoderm patches on mine, and after two weeks, the nerve finally stopped firing. (I had it for 10 yrs!). Here is our MP forum: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum76.html Tight fitting clothes, esp belts and jeans can aggravate MP. Here is a link to a diagram showing where the lateral femoral nerve exists the abdomen to the thigh. MP only affects this sensory nerve and not the nerve that runs your thigh muscles: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...9QEwAg&dur=531 |
