What is this thing??
 

I have a growth on the back of my rt heel about ankle height, right where the top of the back of my shoe is. The growth is about 2 inches in diameter and 3/4inch thick. it hurts!! Showed up about 2 months ago. Doc has seen it and shrugged his shoulders. Anyone know what it might be???? Thanks.

Have you been to a podiatrist (foot doctor)?

Is it under the skin, or on top of the skin, like a wart? Callous, etc?

I damaged my Achilles Tendon during Step Aerobics years ago and it hurt sooooo much, there was a lump just where my shoe ended and it was particularly painful first thing in the morning, especially when going down stairs. I remember giving up the excercise classes and it took an age to get better, Good Luck :)

I have developed sores on my feet and need to have it checked by a foot doctor which is scaring me in itself but I fear an infection. I think for me it is cause my feet are swelling and then my shoes rub. Do you think maybe your shoes are rubbing? Have you tried wearing a different pair or different sock? Do you swell? I was reading about diabetics having issues with sores on their feet as well. Not sure if you have that. What kind of doctor did you ask about this?
